I don't know what brand of HDDs you are using, but I have yet to have a problem with any Western Digital Caviar or VelociRaptor drive. I don't know about anyone else here, but I recommend them.

I would recommend the VelociRaptor as well, even though I actually lost one, a while ago. The reason I would recommend them is that Western Digital replaced it for free. Pretty cool, considering that the drive was over 1 year old.

It is easy to choose a hard drive. There are only 3 existing models:

- Western Digital Caviar Black;
- Western Digital Caviar Blue;
- Western Digital Caviar Green.

Since this seems to be turning into a WD accolade thread *!greengrin!* I figured I'd throw my **!!2cents!!** in.

I've used WD for about 10 years and never had a problem with any of them, although the last drive I bought, a 650 GB Blue, does have a low hum to it when you fire it up.
I use it in an external enclosure as a back up drive so it's not that big of a deal since it's not on all the time, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable using it as an internal drive.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to hijack this thread.

My apologies. I didn't mean for my post to sound like I was saying that. !*salute*!

Oh hey y'all, I'll hafta take all y'alls advice. In other news, it seems the HLRR might be back on track soon. Gonna get a good computer and wait for the RW3 update probably though, we shall see.

Got RW up and running and got back to work. Here's some shots of some new work going on on a branchline.

A little something to go with the route. I think some green ones to match the SW1500 by dogmouse are in store.

thanks krellnut, and a public beta is in my plans, but I've decided to finish at least one whole end of the line. The southwestern and southcentral mainline and branches are closest to being done (but stil got a long way to go) so once I have those ready to go with at least basic scenery, I'll release something !!*ok*!! in the meantime, here's the GP9 in my signature. Needs a little work, but here's where it's at right now.
