Quick update... I've been putting about 5 hours/day every day in on the route. Track is down and working fine. Placing road, traffic ribbons with interactive level crossings and cleaning up terrain/placing lofts, rivers etc... as I go. It's all time consuming stuff but I think it's worth it. Even without scenery it's exciting to drive with the ever changing gradients and endless level crossings. No boring bits! Watch this space. Well actually don't watch this space because it'll be about a month before I start doing anything that I haven't just reported on *!!wink!!*

Hey everyone. I'm back! Well I will be shortly when I've picked up my computer (3 months for them to repair... don't even ask!). I'll have to reinstall RW and I guess I'll be automatically upgraded to TS2013? I have the whole route backed up so hopefully it will integrate back into the game without hassle and I'll get what I've done uploaded for anyone wanting to have a play with.

3 months away from RWA forum... I've got some reading to do!!!

Just had a brilliant idea. I'll write the scenarios in old Southern drawl. "Go git in that injin o'yonder an drive it rown ever'where". I'm serious. Think of the emersion.

Perhaps "brilliant", but hardly original. Rich Garber's scenarios for his great (*) routes featured down-home chatter that made them a delight to run. I tried to imitate Rich-speak in some of my scenarios for his RailSimulator routes, but he's the master and I'm just a phoney Tennessean.

(* You know: that other train simulator ... no, not the one that looks like toy trains ... no, not the one that's too technically complicated to operate ... ah, come on, you know which one I mean ...)

Just to sooth your guilty feelings, you did use quotation marks, so plagiarism did not occur. (Once a Prof, always a Prof.) I'll be looking forward to your route, which I promise not to plagiarize!

Ok so I've almost got my route back up to where I left it. I'm still waiting on two assets which are no longer available but should have them in the near future. I have two issues I was hoping someone could help me out with...

1: Traffic ribbons not loading. Some are loading, most aren't. The ribbons are there but something is stopping them from generating cars.

2: A very small section of track wont show. Again the ribbons are there but not loading shapes. Not a big deal... it's not even connected to the network, just a rusty old siding, but would be good to get it working.

Is there anyone who could help me find somewhere to upload the route to, and would like to play around with it and see if they can get to the bottom of the issues?

There's not alot in the way of scenery and no signals yet but I promise you will still have fun trying to run a train along the route. It's challenging!

Any help would be appreciated !*cheers*!

This is Jason Webb's (SCALINE) timber crossings combined with Scaleroad. The screenshot doesn't do them justice. I've used these and Jason's crossing gaurdrails extensively in various conditions to match the prototype (been using Google Streetview like nobody's business) and they really embellish the scene.

Cheers Jason !!*ok*!!

This is a video depicting the smooth graduation of road gradients and the flow of traffic over Scaleroad crossings. All the roads and traffic ribbons have been laid in the same way.

EDIT: Ah crap. I knew I wouldn't get the video to work. Little help? !*don-know!*

Fixed.

You used the URL for an embeded link, for RWA you can use the normal URL, like:

Here's an example of why I made variations on activation distance for SMM Digital's crossings. When I used the standard ones traffic backed up for Africa trying to switch some sidings. Then I saw a prototype video and noticed the crossing had to be activated at slow speed from a short distance so's not to impede traffic too much, and I decided to include the idea in my route. The video is a bit rushed because upload speeds in New Zealand are REAL slow and I wanted to keep the file size down.

I am aware there are two bells ringing. I'm going to make a set of everything with muted bells so that each level crossing, no matter how many structures and arms etc... are involved will only have one bell sound.
