Update:I've been thinking about it for a while, and having the route just between Milwaukee and Watertown just doesn't make any sense. Therefore, I've decided to do the entire Watertown Subdivision (Milwaukee to Portage). The final 50(ish) miles to Portage pass through some pretty scenic countryside, and provide another Amtrak stop by way of Columbus, WI. Here's a wiki page about the line:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watertown_SubdivisionThis route will now be over 100 miles of double and single track railroading (double track from Milwaukee to Pewaukee and Watertown to Tamarack). Action includes a daily local that originates in Milwaukee, Amtrak Empire Builder(s), and tons of freight. Lots of foreign and antiquated power can be found here, UP and CSX led oil/ethanol trains, CSX and INRD led coal/coke, any variety of leasers and SOO SD60s, heck, occasionally BNSF and NS find their way out here! All this ought to make for some interesting/fun scenarios.
I still plan on doing the CN Waukesha Sub and the UP Adams Sub in the future, but for now, they are just sitting on the back burner.
More WIPs to come soon.
