I'm not sure when these will be ready for beta testing or have a release date. Of course I'd like to have them done by the end of the year; but at the rate I'm completing the model, it'll probably be some point in 2019. !!**sorry**!!

Thanks! When it comes time, I'll let you know if I need help with a paint scheme.

I'm unsure how plausible this is, other than the fact that it's definitely a freelanced locomotive. This is an Eight Coupled (0-8-0), diesel powered version of the 0-4-0 Davenport. It won't be a gas mechanical locomotive. It's probably not the most realistic looking, but I personally think it's cool looking. I do plan to try and finish this before anything else; because I have an idea on what the cab will look and I've got reference pictures for it. When I have more of it done, I'll post pics of it.

-The exterior is about 50 percent finished and the cab has been started.

I'm looking for input on the placement of air reservoirs and fuel tanks, as I'm not sure where the best place for them is. The tanks in front are the fuel tanks and the ones in back are the air reservoirs.

I have seen locos similar to this and they often have a vertical air receiver mounted where the cab and running plate meet (I have seen the tanks on both sides but normally on the same loco). Fuel tanks are sometimes placed over the hood directly in front of the cab between the cab front “lookouts/windows”. Hope this helps.
It looks a great project and there is a need for such a narrow gauge loco.

Got a little more done

-I've added two air reservoirs and one larger fuel tank to the top of the long hood
-I've finally got around to modeling an accurate looking coupling rod (which will make it's way to the 0-8-0T)

I feel like there's enough of the cab done to show where it is in development

-The throttle and reverser levers have been added
-And finally the train and independent brake assemblies have been added (I'm not entirely sure of the location of the brake assemblies, but for right now I think they look good.)

Aside from gauges and a few other details, the cab is about two thirds of the way to being finished !*brav*!

Here's another update

-I've added a speedometer and engine temp gauge. I'm not sure about the placement and the design of the temp gauge. My thinking is that it's a re-purposed steam locomotive psi gauge, with everything changed out except for the gauge housing itself. Let me know.
-I've added louvers to the engine hood.
-I've also added cutouts on the frame to allow climbing onto and off of the engine.

I've made some decent progress with the Davenport! !*YAAA*! !*YAAA*!

The modeling's not finished yet and the there's still a bunch of things to work out simulation/ blueprint wise. I can only move it with the F4 HUD controls and the brakes don't have a release position in game (even though it's there in the blueprint), but at least it's in the game as an engine and it works (kind of). I also need to work out the collision box dimensions because I can't couple up to anything, all that happens is the engine hits into whatever's in front or behind it; as well as the driver position because the arrow/ matrix data doesn't do anything and the cab camera faces backwards which causes the reverser controls to be backwards.

If anybody has some tips on how to fix the issues I'm having, I would be very grateful. Thanks for reading *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!*

Finally starting to figure everything out! !*YAAA*! !*YAAA*!

There's still quite a bit to do simulation/modeling wise and I still need to do the animations; but overall I'm getting closer to actually having a fully functional locomotive! (Oh, in case anybody's wondering, yes that is a B-Unit behind the locomotive.)

Great to see some new progress on this and the fact that it is in game now! Keep up the great work.

That’s real progress. All credit to you for a great looking model and your perseverance.

Beautiful work! The blank textures really emphasize the excellent detailing on the model.

That's a very interesting locomotive you're building there -- before seeing your model, I had no idea it even existed, now I simply must go and find out more. There are so many fascinating things in railroad history!

Cheers!

Michael
Davenports were built in Rochelle. Illinois and there is a preserved engine at the Railroad Park there. No longer in production but were built from the 1940s for mostly industrial applications (although the Rock Island had a few - they had something of nearly everything!!).

Sorry for the confusion, substitute Whitcomb for Davenport and my earlier post becomes a) accurate and b) totally irrelevant!

Thank You! But unfortunately, I don't think this specific locomotive existed. It's based off of an 0-4-0 gas-mechanical Davenport, but with a diesel prime mover and two extra axles. I'd like to think of it as one of Davenport's most powerful narrow gauge locomotives had it existed.

(To save on posting a lot I'm combining two posts into one)

-I've added a bell
-I've added the plate that has Davenport written on it back to the model (it's also the first time I've seen it in game.)

-I've also finally sorted out the problem with engine taking off like a rocket and in the process got more than two amps being read. It now behaves like a normal locomotive.
20191210171914_1.jpg

I'm also wondering if I should up the power rating and weight, because right now it has 750hp, 12,500lb/f of tractive effort and weighs 35 tons. I was thinking of changing everything to 1,000hp, 22,500lb/f of tractive effort and weight to 45 tons. I'm interested in everybody's opinions on power and weight.
