Buzz

I don't know if you recall, I helped beta test the Joe's and your's new Berkshire sounds mod a while back. They were in the G-TraX folder. I think the new sounds were from the K4 loco, just guessing. I just was asking if it might be possible to package the new "Chuff" in a easy to install .RWP package for the re-issued RSC Berkshire and RSC Northern, thats all.

Lemmie see if I can 'splain this clearly. If the new item still goes into the G-Trax folder then if you D/L and install our weathered versions the modified sound will be there because it's part of the package. We need someone who just got it new to tell us where it is installed. Otherwise it is there in the railworks folder in the install pack and all someone has to do is follow the folders to the contents of the audio folder and put it in the right place. Wherever it is it's still going to be in the Audio\RailVehicles\Steam\Berkshire ....unless they did something really weird.

Clear as mud? *!greengrin!*

Ok, Buzz. That sounds easy enough to do. I have already successfully added Krellnut's excellent wagon sounds to my collection of rolling stock either by copying files over to the \Audio directory in each of the proper asset folders and renaming them to what the .BIN files require or by changing the referenced addresses. So adding or modifing Loco sounds, by coping files over and possibly renaming a few, should be doable.

BTW, after I purchased the re-released SP&S Northern from the Steam Store (I already had the GS-4 and Berk that I purchased last year before all the G-TraX stuff got pulled), it appears that the Berkshire, SPS_700, and SP_4449 still reside in the "assets\G-TraX\Trains\RailVehicles\Steam" folder where they always have been located. Each loco asset has one or several Namesake Locomotive folders in each loco directory and possibly also a Default folder in each as well for each repaint in the bundle.

OT Alert:
The only issue I see in the new G-TraX Locos re-releases is that when I open the firedoor in the cab, the firebox 'burning fuel' animation periodically flashes a "Missing Texture" inside the firebox. Now I have to determine which one of the animation pictures is bad.

You can check and see what's what by going to: railworks\Assets\G-Trax\Trains\Audio\RailVehicles\Steam folder. You should see
Berkshire
SP_4449
SPS_700

Look at each of the modified ones and see if they look like the one that's in your copy of the reworked down loads from Joe and I. If not just replace them with the modified ones and you will have our sounds. If you used the installer they should be there however you can find them by drilling through the manual install files until you find the Audio\RailVehicles\Steam...whichever.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted an update in the last little while. Things have been beyond crazy in my neck of the woods. Regardless I'm doing what work I can on the project but regardless of that, I'm planning a beta release this weekend. It'll give me a bit of time to brush some things up and add a few more sounds. The only headache I'm having is the way the sounds are scripted. While its easy to replace the sounds that are most predominately heard, some (even though they are indeed there) are so quiet they are barely detectable. I'm searching for ways to better this and create a more comprehensive sound package, rather than just throwing in new files without giving them the tenacity they deserve.

If anyone has any ideas or opinions, feel free to express them! This is my very first go at this sort of thing. *!rolleyes!*

Hey guys! So me being a moron and also completely oblivious to the fact we had a holiday weekend full of festivities, I didn't get a chance to finish the sounds! Due in large part to the fact Canada Day is for a large percent of the population, synonymous with copious amounts of beer! I will confirm or deny nothing *!!wink!!*

Regardless, I am wipping things together and if things play my way I'll have the beta out tonight! :D

And, from the great white North, Happy Canada Day! !*cheers*!

The onl;y think I had to fix in the gs4 proxy file was the whistle were incorrect so I fixed it and they're good to go. Now my next request is get the NKP whistle. Love the sound of the bell. Now i command you to do the whistle. !*lho*!

The silence is ominous. Hope this isn't another developer / project that is gone into the wind...

!*don-know!*

Good evening all!!

I am happy to say that after much silence and so forth, I am once again taking the hog's seat and continuing the project! :D After many TS updates, transfers, and so on I have finally reached a position where all is calm and I can delve into things. I am also VERY proud to announce that I have teamed up with another TS sound developer and we will not only be overhauling the sounds themselves but also the scripts to bring them up to date!

If you all wanted rod clank... well you're going to get it! I am also going to produce a guest whistle pack that is easily interchangeable! *!!wink!!*

I really appreciate everyone's continuing patience and support, we will have the full release ready by Christmas and a beta in the near future! Stay tuned! *!!thnx!!*

*A side note, this project will still be freeware.
