Laying the Yard tracks can be quite difficult, but once you know you got it. Looks great!

Some good news tonight. I ran a 80 wagon test train round the now nearly fully forested spiral tunnel section and the fps stayed at a useable level. The tunnels area was always going to be a problem as you have a few miles of track squeezed into a couple of tiles and with all the detailing that goes with it. My pc is a lowish spec and i could run it with tsx on and not drop below 17fps so with any decent graphics card and processor it should run pretty well !!*ok*!!
Here's some progress shots.
Looking east towards the lower tunnel above the siding at Cathederal. The Trans Canadian Highway is in the middle with the siding at Yoho beyond it then the line out of the upper tunnel.

Looking west gives you a good idea of the change in altitude

Here's a general view looking north. I've still got a lot of texture painting and forest to do but i'm getting there.

Im wondering if the sim can do it, prototypically CP would haul 150 car grain trains over these subs and currently use 3-4 locomotives (modern ones), so to see if the sim can try and make a 150 car grain train with 2 ES44's up front and 1 in the middle and see if this works....I think this is for eastbounds only since they are unloaded hoppers.

Yes it can. Just finished my test run. 150 cylindrical hoppers and 4 locos is pretty much all the biggest siding in Field can handle. I used 2 ES44s up front with a mid train ES44 dpu about 70 cars in and a rear end ES44 dpu.
The train made it up the hill without any real problems. It slowed to about 16mph in notch 8 and held it to the top.
The frame rates did drop to 14 but it wasn't lurching or freezing the screen with my lower end computer.

Cheers everyone and i'll add you to the list nate !!*ok*!!
I'm happy folk are getting excited about this route but there really isn't too much to see right now at all. I've just used good camera angles to miss out the vast chunks of bare mountains in the background *!greengrin!*
