I felt like doing something different from making more parts (there are a lot more still to make!), so I did some texturing to get an idea of what it's going to look like when it's all done. These are very much "work in progress" but you can see where it's heading ...

I've got it running in the game too, although at the moment it has to be driven from the F4 or keyboard (I haven't started on the cab yet ... I have to do the tender before I get to that). The smoke you can see in the first screenshot is a particle emitter I made specially for it. I hate those puffballs that hang over the stack, so I made this one for when it's standing still ... it looks much more realistic.

Thank you!

I'm going to be away for a week, but when I get back, I'll park the loco for a while and make a start on the tender.

Before doing the tender, I decided to do the air compressors (Westinghouse Cross Compound Steam Driven Air Compressors). I'd been putting them off because they looked so complicated, but thanks to the excellent information I found at http://www.grandscales.com, I managed to model it in a day.

Here's a better one, with the compressor discharge pipes.

It's very kind of you to say so, thank you! Actually, RSC have never made any comment at all about anything I've ever done.

I'll keep posting updates. There'll be many of them, because there's still so much more to do, such as the tender, cab interior, spring suspension, sounds, visual effects, texturing, whistle, coupling mount, some more parts connected to the Walschaert's gear, various other valves and pipes ... a long list. Still, I get far more enjoyment out of this than actually playing the game (it's been months since I ran a scenario!).

Hahaha same here i spend literaly 80% of my time building, its more fun that looking at a sbhh error all day !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!

Yes and no ... 3DCrafter crashes on my PC about every ten minutes! I have to make sure I save often. Fortunately, it's very good at recovering after a crash, but it's still really frustrating at times.

Unfortunately, the models aren't backwards compatible, I mean, if I try to open, in 8.x, a model built with 9.1, I get an error message. I can open, in 9.1, models built in 8.x.
I still like 9.1 more anyway, mainly because it's much easier to switch between the different views, which is very useful when selecting and shifting points and faces.
I suspect it's a problem of Windows 7 64-bit. My Vista 32-bit laptop runs 9.1 without crashing as often, although it's not powerful enough to work on this particular model.
