Let' see, we need decent Horizon, Viewliner and Amfleet cars, plus Cascades and Surfliner cars for those routes.

Are there any decent Heritage fleet repaints (i.e. pre Amtrak cars painted for the pointless arrow :)

Amfleet is so ugly, I just always thought they looked like airplanes with the wings, nose and tail cut off. Weren't they kncok-offs of the NEC Metroliner cars?

I found this site with pictures of the various rolling stock used by Amtrak over the years:

I don't know what to think of running a hogde-podge of all these different car types in a passenter train. It is probably prototypical, but sort of detracts from the image of a streamlined unity.

We really don't have that many passenger cars, let alone good looking passenger cars.

The Kuju ACF chair car is an ancient model, but we have a baggage and dome car to go with it,
The G-Trax's are MSTS conversions, their trucks are ugly and out of scale,
The RSC PRR P80 probably never ran in Amtrak service, and is too old anyway.

The SuperLiners are OK, as are the AmCan's.

These are about the only cars I know of.

I think we need smooth sided cars for UP and PRR service and fluted stainless steel cars for ATSF service. Both can be repainted for Amtrak service.

You'll see some Amfleet mixed with Horizon, though Horizon is about all you see on short-range trains in Illinois--or Superliners.

Viewliners (being sleepers) show up only on eastern runs.

My observation (which might not reflect actual practice) is that your consists will be Horizon for midwestern runs, Superliner for long distance mid and western routes with occasional fill-in on short-distance routes, and mixed Amfleet and Viewliners heading east (both are fluted).

It doesn't look too bad as it passes by, even if you have Amfleet and Horizon together.

On the Quincy IL line we get Horizon or Superliner.

They were loud because the HEP was supplied by the prime mover, weren't they? Notch 4 while standing in the station or something like that.
They were designed before noise pollution laws came into effect.

They need to do a 'Cabbage' version as well. The Cascades has a FP40H on one end that has had the prime mover removed, and a baggage compartment installed where it was. The cab is fully operational, and is used for control when the train is heading South.

It seems the Cascades powered F40s are in the shop, as they are using Genesis locomotives for power right now. It looks odd to see the F40 Cabbage on one end and a Genesis on the other.

No. F40s ran when supplying HEP continuously at 900 RPM (run 8) to supply 60Hz power for clocks and what not. When you excited the generator field for traction, the engine would become under more load and get bassier, and louder as the engine got more stressed out. When you would unload that stress, you could hear the engine surge back up and a little beyond 900 RPM because of the sudden load decrease.

Definitely need this in both new and old VIA Rail
Liveries.

Also I just wish someone would make the LRC
Cars used by VIA today in both liveries again.
The newer "Renaissance cars" and the older look
I would pay tops 30 dollars for this.
I really want this!

And a Windsor On to London route. About 200km long

Lol. I have no experience in that. It would take me
Years. And we need more good Canadian routes
It really does suck that we probably won't get
Lakeshore west anymore due to the passing of
Doug smith.

I also do not have the money for the required
Software.

You can reskin with these programs: Gimp(free), DxtBMP(free), and RWTools(donation of about 10 bucks required). These are all affordable by you if you are willing to pay 30 dollars for a route/reskin. It really isn't that hard, look for tutorials on youtube, thats how I learned to at-least do basic texture modifying.

Well maybe I could give repainting a try but I
Will not be able to make a new model or route
For a very long time. I'm sure I'm not the only
One out there who would like to see more
Canadian content.
