Sorry all for delayed response.

It's almost end of school term and holiday stress is growing so I've not been working on painting this past week+.

But...tomorrow is my last day for the year and so hope to get set three of the reefers off the workbench and shared shortly afterwards.

Meanwhile, I am still working on some other repaint projects so stay tuned:

Here's my current list of projects already actively underway on my workbench:

    Steel Reefers
    Tankcars (10K and 8K)
    Passenger Cars (escp CSX OCS)
    Airslide cars
    2-Bay ACF Cvd Hoppers

And I still have work on those modern Ortners (though there seems of little interest in these, judging by zero response to my post...hhh)

Anyway, I'm doing my best to finish things I want painted and getting them shared with others who would also enjoy seeing them in the game.

Thank you to all who continue to offer encouragement and support.

I was wondering why I like these reefers so much, and then it hit me.

When I was around 10, I found a box in the basement. Inside was a treasure: my father's HO-scale train set. I was mesmerized. He said they were mine if I wanted them, he had no time for that anymore, but I had to be careful not to break them.

I cautiously unpacked every small Athearn box, revealing a rubber-band-driven F7 in Burlington silver livery, boxcars, hoppers, a Burlington caboose, and a half-dozen billboard reefers very similar to hobo160's ones. These I remember most fondly, they were fascinating with their quaint advertisements and vibrant colors.

My father showed me how it all worked, we laid tracks, plugged in the transformer, pulled from the box a station, a water tower, a church, a barn, a switching tower. I had these trains for a long time.
Over the hill and gathering speed

Still in awe at your research and output.

I was / am in a similar situation. Last job ended with the business closing and after 18 months was still looking for work, but nobody wants an Financial Controller / Accountant with only a few years left on the clock, so I ended taking a type of early retirement. Now i volunteer a couple of days a week at the railway museum in large document preservation and storage and spend the rest doing not much. Looking forward to being able to travel, but I think that might still be a little way off, and the time must flies.

Goodluck with yours...

A late friend of mine (15 years older than I) told me that the worst thing about retirement was " having to read the paper and drink coffee on your own time". When I retired it wasn't quite the same but its surprising how busy you can be doing all the "nothing jobs" that still need to be done but no longer against the clock AND leaves time for playing around on the Simulator.

I'm busy doing nothing, working the whole day through
finding lots of things not to do
I'm busy going nowhere isn't just a crime
I'd like to be unhappy but I never do have the time.

Age doesn’t stop you, it just slows you down.

Update...

I am finalizing my wood reefers set three but I have also been working on some steel cars as well.

Wanted to share some of my efforts from this week.

More coming soon.

This one is a favorite car of mine but with a mysterious origin -- unknown.

There was apparently a legitimate prototype car upon which the Atlas model was based. My brother and I had a few of these for our model railroading years ago but I have yet to find a photo of said car.

But, not really that important to me as I have always wanted this in the game and now I have.

One more...

In the late 1970s CP Rail launched the “Mandarin Orange Express”. Multiple brightly colored rail cars traveled east across Canada delivering these seasonal treats to the rest of Canada. The mandarin oranges were (and still are) shipped east of Winnipeg. Apparently, they aren’t as popular in eastern Canada where the clementine is the traditional Christmas orange of choice -- at least according to an article I located on the web:

https://vanalogue.wordpress.com/tag/christmas-stockings/

Meanwhile, I have another of my 'wanted cars' off my workbench, though I'm not really happy with the hardware color but alas, there is no way to apply to colors to them as I would have wished.

Found this post on a model railroading forum regarding ThermIce. Looks like there maybe a prototype pic for you. You'll just need to find the Morning Sun books.

Bernie Paul was not in violation of rule G when he had AHM produce the Thermice cars, although he did take some liberties as to prototype fidelity. Bernie applied Thermice graphics to a Pullman-Standard car which seems to be very scarce in 1:1 scale. There is a picture of a Thermice 40 foot, plug door dry ice reefer built by Fruit Growers Express bearing reporting marks of TICX 8907, on page 125 of Morning Sun's "X-Car Color Guide Volume 4: OCPX-TKCX".

A Thermice Liquid CO2 tank car that doesn't exactly match Bernies model appears on page 87 of Morning Sun's "Tank Car Color Guide Volume 1: Cars with Full Center Sills".

This car is under UTLX reporting marks as their 82099, a 16,500 gallon car. As far as users of CO2, a web search will provide that information but one user that comes to mind would be the field of medicine and, medical research

Thank you, sir.

I'm working to develop my skills further and I'm lucky to have great support and encouragement here among this group of wonderful artists.
I'm pleased with my newer work as I've begun adding new tools from my painting software. I still have a few more hurdles to tackle but progress is...well...progress. ;)

Last two for tonight.

These are another two cars I've wanted in the game. I've no idea how 'prototypical' the Kraft reefer is but my brother thought it would make an interesting challenge -- he was right.

I'm pleased with both though.
