Also, forgot I had these laying around! Took these about two years ago, and included are the cabs of two different saddletankers. The first three are in the cab of Rockton & Rion #20 (1904 ALCO 0-4-0ST), and the fourth is Pullman Co. #249 (1909 Porter 0-4-0ST). Some parts missing on both locos (gauges, handles, etc), but overall intact enough to give an idea of the layout. Note the throttle placement atop the boiler on both, done for the obvious space limitations at the rear.

Here's an in progress shot of the cab windows. The curved part of the window doesn't exactly follow the curve of the saddle tank, but the windows aren't final.

Windows like that were not common on steam locomotives. Even with saddle tanks, rectangular windows are the norm. Here is a pic of a little Vulcan 0-4-0, also 3ft gauge, in Tifton, Georgia. Even though the tanl obscures parts of the windo, it was still rectangular.

Then there is the additional benefit of being easier to model. ;)

I've been a little hesitant about posting this, because there's little information (that I've found) about anything relating to Davenport gas mechanical locomotives. I'm worried I might not be able to accurately model and simulate one. Any help or information is helpful.

Anyway here's some W.I.P pictures of the near complete exterior.

I'm open to suggestions on things to add to this.

Nice to see my art is still inspiring people.

Davenport made a lot of small, industrial locomotives. The drawing I made was entirely based on Bachmann's On30 scale/gauge model. I made the drawing to use as a base for developing different color schemes for my own models.

The Davenport Gas-Mechs were small, gasoline fueled locomotives. Great for switching and industrial use. It was basically a tractor on rails and operated as such, with a clutch and gear shifter. So imagine something like a manual transmission in a car. Not sure how that could translate into TS operation however. Here's a link to a wiki page regarding the Davenport Locomotive Works.

Hopefully this will help.

PS: Any work done on the 0-8-0T? Or has that project been abandoned?

Thanks, it does help.

As for the 0-8-0T; I haven't done much on it recently, but it hasn't been abandoned. I do plan on finishing it eventually.

I did manage to do more work to an 0-8-4T and a 2-8-4t version (I don't know how realistic these look, but I think they look interesting)

Realistic or not, it does look good. Though an 0-8-4/2-8-4 would have a limited curve radious. But it still looks awesome and there's always room for more American narrow gauge of any kind for TS!

Keep us posted on the Davenport and steamers!

Oh, you might want to look into Plymouth, Brookville, and Whitcombe locomotives. You might be able to draw some more inspiration and tehnical data from those builders.

I've got more progress on the 0-8-0T done:

- I added the sand lines and added steps to the water tank
- I added the doors and grab irons to the cab
- I updated the steam chest and changed the hinges on the smokebox door
- The air compressor and air reservoir has had more detail added to them
- And finally, the firebox now rests on a plate in between the frame

I have been following this thread with interest.

Beautiful work and the locos are all looking great. And the part!

I think the 0-8-4/2-8-4 are especially nice.

Long wheel arrangements were more common here in South Africa than short, the Rail Gauge normally being 2 foot (though 18 inch Gauge was also used).

2-8-2, 2-6-4, 4-6-2 were all common wheel arrangements used on 2 foot narrow gauge.

2-6-2+2-6-2 (Garrett's) were also common and there are as a result a number of these also still operational here and in Wales. See the pic below.

Despite their length, the 2-6-2+2-6-2 handles sharp curves quite happily! You can from the pic it's actually quite tiny.

Wow!! The 0-8-0 is looking great!! Now that the details are starting to come together it's really shaping up as a locomotive! Keep up the amazing work, friend! !*YAAA*!

I've added more onto the 0-8-0t

- I've updated the front pilot
- I've updated the reverser linkages
- I've added a basic stephenson valve gear (Basic as in most likely not being animated. It was a lot of work trying to stuff it in-between the frame. Considering that this is freeware, some sacrifices have to be made.)
- I've added a basic cab interior that will be updated in the future

Last but not least: I'm not the kind of person that calls inanimate objects "cute", but I must say that this 0-6-0t version is a cute looking locomotive

That's it for now. Thanks for reading! *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!*

Wow! This is looking really good! And I actually really liking the shortened 0-6-0 version! If you need any help with the paint scheme just let me know.
