learn how to model.
Da Build: Intel Core I5-9600k, Nvida RTX 2060 Super, 32 GB ram, and way too much storage.

I have modeled 3D stuff in the past, but it would take me forever for me to actually model a locomotive and get it just right. I'm a modder, not a professional modeler.

Right now, the GTW GP38 project is on hold until further notice. I'll move onto the GTW SD40-2 for now.

Papa is right. If he creates an external script to modify the Geo, there is no issue. He's not redistributing the Geo, just giving you a tool to mod it.

If you don't already have the Geo, then you can't get it with the script. There is no grey area here.

Again, Papa is right. If there is no Geo included it's not piracy, if it's modding the geo for you it's still not piracy. Although DTG may get pissy if they find out someone modded one of their models, but they can't do anything about that. I'd be more angry at the furryrail repaints than someone figuring out how to remove a DB blister, personally.

If DTG got ticked about it they would also likely get ticked at RWA for hosting it and I doubt they want to sour their relationship.

If anyone over at DTG was unhappy about something here they would contact us like adults and we would come to a agreement where we were both satisfied. That's how grown ups do it.

So I have decided to cancel the project due to issues with trying to match the real thing. Unfortunately DTG has not yet made a non-DB GP38 yet, and there may never be one in the future for TS. However, that may change with TSW... (whink)(whink)

To replace this project, a Norfolk Southern and Conrail GP38-2 Low Nose Freeware Pack will be worked on, using the same Racetrack GP38 base I used originally for the GTW GP38 project. It will have autonumbering, the headlight actually positioned in the correct place to match the real thing, and since the NS GP38 units have AC units, I will be keeping the AC units on the Racetrack GP38 as is; so you don't need to worry about major GEO file modifications.

I will make a new post about the NS/CR GP38-2 Low Nose in the future once things move forward for that new project, but for now, I will need to finish up other projects first. Stay tuned. *!!wink!!*

I have mentioned this before, but I wish they could be persuaded to release a non-dynamic 38 mesh, also. We have seen them do a few variations of the dynamic unit ,based on routes they have released. If they had released a GP 38 pack, similar to the RSC GP 9 pack,we would have had our non-dynamic unit. I do not know if they could be directly petitioned to release such a beast,or not. I know the vast majority of 38's had dynamics, but it would be a boon for people like you and me.

The guys from RRMods will most likely take care of that problem in time *!!wink!!*

Seeing how the non-DB GP38's were in Trainz, I guess it would make sense to bring them over to TS2017...

Problem with that is it's obviously going to be on another online storefront other than Steam, which I'm pretty hesitant about buying stuff from there, as I'm usually a Steam purchaser (plus having many storefronts selling TS content kills the convenience of having Steam the centralized location for getting payware TS content)

But weren't you still going to use the Racetrack GP38? It will require a payware base model either way unless you use the freeware GP38 for the base.

I'm of course still gonna use the Steam payware Racetrack GP38 base for my future GP38 repaints. I must have not thought about that above post more, sorry about that. !*don-know!* Already edited what I was going to say...

You're missing out on many great products by refusing to buy from non steam vendors. Anyways, I'm sure the RRMods GP38-2 will be 100 times better than that old RSC model.

Agreed. I may try out one of RRMods freeware Box Cars and see what I think of their products, then I may get into buying the non-DB GP38-2 and develop scenarios for it.

I am a big fan of RR Mods,I have purchased Trainz Locos in the past. But I am not getting a sense of if and when they are venturing into locos for our platform. I know that attempting to modify the existing GP 38 mesh, then release it,is a No-No. My main thought that was before we have a 3rd or 4th creator make a new 38,see if we can get the changes made on the existing one. I know this is not likely, and us non dynamic guys will just have to wait.
