looks great! what railway is it going to be? i heard the one from RS.com is going to be BNSF so maby UP, NS, SP, BN, CSX, FEC or SF? I personaly think that Santa Fe(WarBonnet) or Burlington Northern(Dark Green & White) would be the best.

It will be in Union Pacific livery, which is daunting in itself because I haven't had much experience creating "good" textures.

i recomend doing what jessiejames from digirails does with all his repaints, he uses a picture from the real thing. you should ask him how to do it the way he does.

I personally am not too keen of photo repaints, they have foreign shadows on them.

Thanks Trevor! :D

Getting a few photos (3 *!sad!* ) I was able to make a basic cab. It's not the best model, but It's all I could do. It's been mapped and baked, and the result is what you see here. (Obviously I've hidden away everything so you can actually see it.)

Fantastic work. !*brav*!

I can't wait to get this thing on the rails for a test run. By that way, are you going to alias the sounds to another locomotive or will it come with it's own set of new sounds?

I kind of find it funny that with this and RSC's SD70MAC, we'll have have nearly the entire SD70 series except for the original SD70 with the spartan cab:

I think one can use the sounds of the RS.com SD70ACE/MAC? The sould fit or are they diffrent?
The original SD70 looks so much like the SD40-2 and is not modern enough , so maybe they chose to do some modern-day locos first.

I will alias the sounds to a default locomotive, I do not know how to do my own sounds and I can't record. The reason why I will use the default is because they are default.

i think you should use the freeware addon sounds for the SD40-2. they are recorded from a real SD40-2 so they sound great!
