Just took a look at building a scenario for this route and basically a bunch of surfliner locations popped up. Is there a trick to this I'm missing?

It's because I'm using Surfliner as a template. My advice is to edit one of the existing scenarios and place a new marker from within instead of creating a scenario from the menu.

Just uploaded a brief scenario for this.
30-35 minutes
Moved the "timeframe" as it were back to the early 1960's. Still works reasonably well.

Requires UP GE 44 Tonner, RWA F7, and Reppo UP G20

Uses new 3d rain and rolling start features

I'm currently working on extending the line. I figured the route needed a large section of high speed running, as well as a freight yard.
Unfortunately the editor keeps crashing for me, so progress has been slow the last two weeks. I'm hoping the update on Tuesday will solve some of those problems so I can get back to work.

Image
West Mesa; The tracks exiting to the left go to Arlington.

Image
Not a very big yard, but then again, it's really only meant to handle the local freights run by the ALRR.

Image
South of West Mesa there's the town of Sanslow. There's only two sidings and one station, so this is more of a waypoint than an area of interest.

Image
The town isn't as big as Arlington or Lewistown, but it's more spread out so it seems bigger than it really is.

Image
Heading north of West Mesa, you follow the shores of what would be the *Real* Salton Sea. The body of water on the original route was too small to pass as the Salton Sea so I did a do-over here.

Image
One of the many questionable trailer towns that line the sea.

Image
The northern end of the route is the town of Heat. Three sidings for some light switching, but like Sanslow, this is more of a waypoint than a dedicated town.

Image
Notice how smooth the new section is compared to the old line. I wanted this new area to emphasize fast freight running as opposed to local switching like the old section did.

Alright, I have an update. The stuff in the post above me? Ignore that. I've lost all that progress since I moved PCs, but I think I've got something better in the works.

I'm enhancing the current route with more detail, improved terrain and new areas of interest. For example;

And after;

Keep in mind these sample shots are still heavily WIP, it will look even better than it does now.

Got a lot of work done today, mostly in the vegetation department. I need to work on the section between Oasis and Sunrise as well as around Lewistown, but overall about 70% of the line has been upgraded. Once that's done I'll start working on a proper freight yard and HQ for the ALRR.

Image
A long coal train (Hint hint: it's a new industry) waits outside of Oasis. This area was really barren before, I like how this has turned out.

Image
Heading south, just before the slow mountain section. Overall everything looks much more natural.

EDIT: Here's a few new shots.

Except for a few minor details I'm almost done. I should be uploading this sometime after the weekend; here's some eye candy in the meantime.

T-Minus [Integer] before upload. Probably tomorrow- assuming I don't find anything else to work on. Here are some more screens;

Image
Practicing what I preach-- I think any locomotive looks good on this route.

Image
All hand-generated, no DEM here.

Image
A re-shot of one of the original teaser images from the OP. Just look at how far the route's come in just 9 months!

Image
Oh yeah, the ALRR has RDCs as well. Kind of a wimpy repaint, but I liked those stripes too much to remove them. Other than the green stripe and logo these are identical to the PC units.

If any of you guys have a particular area of the route you want to see before it gets uploaded I'll be happy to take more pictures.
