When Rock Island carried out their capital rebuild program on the GP7s in the late 1970s, the high hoods were retained unless damaged, on cost grounds. when Green Bay & Western rebuilt their RS3s they chopped the noses and made them SHF on visibility grounds.

I wanted to wait until I finished working on this before posting, but I figured it was best to show what's being worked on (FINALLY). I found a picture recently of the center of an AAR Type B truck after searching for a couple of years.

Here's the picture

Here's where I am in finally finishing the trucks

For Comparison, here's what it looked like the last time I posted a picture of it

There's still a lot left to add/change, but this is just a small update to show where the project is

As well as this (my second favorite version of the RS-3) *!greengrin!*

This is what I'm hoping to get it to look like eventually

Just a note that the render 1 shape of the chop nose is very similar to the nose of the rebuilt RS3s that Green Bay & Western had and called RS20s with 2000hp 251 engines. They rebuilt 4 in this form in 1973, 74, 75 and 76 which lasted until the end of the Railroad in 1993 when it was bought by Wisconsin Central, all four were sold on to other railroads.

I know this isn't Railworks related, but I thought that everybody would be interested in seeing this. Don't worry, it'll make it's way into Railworks too.

I've got my first piece of rolling stock into Derail Valley! It's only in game as a freight car, but this was just for testing purposes. So once I figure out setting up locomotives, every model I make (that's standard gauge) will be in both Railworks and Derail Valley.
