I had really planned on getting some sleep last night, but I got in the zone working on the route. On the plus side, lots of progress was made.
The horseshoe in the foreground is 'Sawmill Curve', the slightly wider counterpoint to the Cantara Loop at the bottom of the canyon. Half of the loop is on a rock fill embankment, and half is through a shallow cutting. Adjusting the floor of the cutting to prevent floating track, or jagged angles on the terrain was an absolute nightmare. However, its done now and all that is left to do is add the 'grassets' at trackside, a few 2d trees, and the 3d foliage closest to the right of way.

I finished up some of the last detail assets in the middle tier of the canyon , including this slide fence at MP330. GreatNortherner's telephone pole models filled in nicely in place of an actual slide fence!

What started as a test to see which scenery and texture combination best matched the real terrain, turned into a quarter mile of almost finished scenery. Below is the crossing at Mott Road that I roughed in last weekend. The long straightaways along the sidings of Mott and Azalea are a very welcome relief from the slow placement of scenery in the canyon below. Placing 50 meter grass sections feels like a reward compared to the tiny shrunk assets I have had to use for the past several months!

I took a test run during the week to break up the monotony of scenery work, and to try out Mainelines newest boxcar. They cars are right at home in the shadow of Mount Shasta, which dominates the skyline for miles around. This is the former station site at 'Pioneer' California, milepost 335. I have only placed a few loft assets here to date, but hope to have completed scenery to here within a few weeks.
