This model hands down beats every US steam locomotive made by RSC in my opinon.
"If you really needed a diesel locomotive right away, then go ahead and order a ALCO. But if you could wait for real quality, then go for an EMD or a GE".

So I can't rely tell you how good or bad it was, but it looked pretty decent in the screen shots
Don't think we would need a new one, it should match the quality of the challenger !!*ok*!!

When you say it looked good, was it a new model prototypical of the real thing?

That's what I'm afraid of... !*roll-laugh*!
Not really, as long as it's close, I'll be okay!

It looks great, but sadly it is the 1990s version. It is very cool though and I thank you for getting these screenshots for me !!howdy!!
Thanks!

mrennie, if you could do the one with the flag, that would be great please!

You Da Man!!!

(if you want, I can give you some pictures of what it looks like. The 3985 uses 2, and only 1 has a flag on it.)

(I must warn you though)

The tender I want was "modernized" by the UP steam program in 2006ish. All those hand rails were removed and the ends were "squared" up. Only 1 of the 2 used by UP Steam has a flag on the side. UP 3985 usually runs with both attatched, but 844 usually only runs one.
The model itsself is amazing, very nice. (needed to accurately represent any runs from the 1990s)

That's why I asked the master modeler to do it *!!wink!!*

If there's any way all those handrails can be made invisible somehow (is there a texturing trick that can do that?) A simple flag would appease my insatiable cfraving for Union Pacific rolling stock *!twisted!*

But my reasoning was, if he can make a steam locomotive with such a high level of detail, then a simple tender should almost be like building a pile of wood pallettes.

That's one of the things I love about this community. We all have our own areas of expertise, and are willing to contribute. Whether it's modeling, repainting or having the facts, we all have a common goal: Improve the TS2013 experience for all who have enough interest to search for it.

Thank you for that, and for getting back on topic *!!wink!!* (not that I minded the digression)

Mike, maybe you could start a new thread about the tender .... it'd be interesting to follow the progress.
