The good news... the scenery front has arrived at Cantara Loop.

The bad news... It's Cantara Loop, and since it will be one of the focal points of the route, and is one of the most prolific locations on the SP, I am being reeeeally picky and detailed about how it looks ...which is taking me a while. I'm not kidding when I say that I spent three hours last week positioning the assets that make up the bridge itself. I hate posting pictures of locations that aren't complete, but here it is as it sits right now.

LOTS of work left to do, but its coming along slowly. When compared to the raw DEM from back in the spring it looks like progress at least.

I spent most of last week working on the 'east' side of Snowden, and down into Willow Creek 'canyon'. I'm still tweaking the terrain textures to get the exact right 'look' of the line in all four seasons. Pics of this soon.

I spent time last weekend tackling one of the areas of the route that I had been avoiding; the Roseburg Forest Products/ex IPI mill in Weed, CA. Making a large structure out of a series of smaller structures that don't really look the part is an art that I am far from mastering. Tomcat and Minerman are aces at it, and I'm learning a lot from seeing their work. Below is the majority of the mill site.

Ebarruse, any guess as far as time to completion on my part would be an act of futility. However, RWInfo gives a good indication below based on tiles with scenery assets placed. This was progress as things stood on August 12.

Progress as of Aug 12, 2017.jpg

Medford-Steinman is mostly untouched, and from Hornbrook to Siskiyou is bare for the most part. The same goes for the entire Yreka Western. Once I work past the Sacramento Canyon (2 more miles!) progress should speed up considerably. The amount of time spent fiddling with terrain, and fixing floating, or buried track here is incredible !*hp*!

The wait will be worth it though, I assure you that.

That's looking brilliant, take your time, if you rush you'll make a mistake, we aren't going anywhere for the forseeable future, you have all the time in the world to finish this masterpiece, well, a few months, anyway........ !*roll-laugh*!

There is no news about this work? Do you continue to develop this route?

I am definitely still plugging away with the route. I'm not giving up on a few years and few thousand hours of my time for nothing !!*ok*!!

I was overseas in Asia for a few weeks, and then prepping for the last drag race of the season. After the race next week I have a long, dark winter to spend on Railworks. I will post some new screenshots soon.

Most of the time, **!!2cents!!** *!greengrin!*

I would gladly pay for some of these freeware routes that are being developed. There are some very talented people on RWA. !*salute*!

Before a 'possible' pre-release/public beta, can you extend the cascade line to grass lake? If yes, that would make the route for everyone in the Railworks modding community, not just me. No one has made this section of the cascade line for Railworks ever. An extension to Grass Lake would be a dream come true for everyone. *!!thnx!!*\

Btw, here are some photos that I took of grass lake and of Mt.Shasta on my trip on the Coast Starlight:

This project is a true example of dedication by people who love railroading and using Train Simulator 2018 as the mechanism of production. These fellows who do this out of shear love of the hobby need our praise more than those who do it for financial gain. Think of RWA as our own Model Railroad club, and we all have that opportunity to contribute to the real life scale club layout. Just Sayin.......Great work Boosted, thanks for your efforts, and I think I speak for others here, we look forward to your magnificent efforts and the release of this project.

Thank you all for the interest, and comments! I sometimes need the reminder to post screenshots up on here.

The short answer, is no. Adding the extra 25 miles from Black Butte to Dunsmuir has already added significant time to the project which ultimately pushes back any sort of realease. Adding another 18 miles from Hotlum to Grass Lake is just not in the cards for me. Once the final version of the route is released though, I would be more than happy to help anyone mod their version with the DEM for an extension of the Cascade line north of Hotlum, or South of Dunsmuir. I agree with you though, that section of track is certainly through some gorgeous scenery.

There will be a legitimate beta test of the route to a small group, followed by the release of the route from Medford south.

Progress on the route: I am pretty satisfied with the finished scenery at Cantara Loop. I spent far too much time here, but as said before, this is such an iconic part of the line that I felt I needed to get the scenery perfect. Otherwise scenery is roughed in up the hill to Mott, with finished scenery to about MP 329.5.
