There's plenty wrong with it still, but that's not what's important. What's important is the fact that I managed to make an engine that moves under it's own power!!

Now I can finally focus on finishing something and then work on getting it fully functional.

Thanks for reading!! *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!*

It doesn't get any better than this! You breathed life into your creation Herr Doktor. I have to ask ... could you share the time in hours you spent (including research and testing) that brought you to this point? I would like to know, should I consider this aspect of our hobby in a future work.
Clearly - you are extremely committed to this project and it is very admirable. And the work, I am loving the research you do and how your willing to refine and update what you are doing. Carry on Ryan!

Thanks!! In terms of time, I have no clue how many hours I've put in. If I had to guess, there's probably hundreds of hours put into the models alone and who knows how long in research. I'll literally sit and sift through dozens of pictures I find online. For the longest time I could never figure out why when I clicked on the engine in-game, it would freeze. Every once in a while I'll come back and try and change something, but it always ended the same way. Until today that is! *!greengrin!*
A large part of my commitment is because I really enjoy 3d modeling (plus researching and looking for oddballs is always fun *!greengrin!* ).

Now that I have a basic understanding of setting up the blueprints, this project is full speed ahead.
Thanks Again *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!*

I commend you for this, you've gotten further in locomotive creation then I ever did.

These days unfortunately don't have enough time left to do locomotive creation, so instead I just to stick to what I know best, scenery.

I finally updated the cab shell, for the first time in over a year.
The first two pictures are of the old cab. The detail is good enough pass as a cab, but nowhere near good enough for the detail I'm going after.

Now here's the new cab. The bevels have many more vertices so that they're much smoother.

This last one is just a general profile of the cab. Personally, I think it looks a thousand times better than the old one. *!greengrin!*

Looking great, I can't wait to see this running in the sim with it's own livery.

I'm not much of a diesel fan, but this will certainly be a favorite.

Small update: I've changed the frame to match that of the steam gen RS3 since a lot of pictures I've seen have that style of frame. I've also updated the grab bars on the front of the long hood and the headlight (I'm not sure if this style headlight is correct for a phase one RS3, it'll probably be changed). The position of the horn has been changed also. I'm also planing on updating the trucks soon.

Awesome to see you're still working on this! The units look great!

Suggest child objects for the parts that are most often moved around in the different phases and by different railroads. That'd make it MUCH easier to handle repaints and you wouldn't have to release a pile of separate units. Thinking of things like the horns, bells, whether or not there is a steam generator, direction of the stack, class lights (or not), etc.

I've started work on the control stand for the EMD Re-Powers.

This is still early on, but I think it looks good so far. Here's what the finished control stand should look like.

Also, Does anybody know if these control stands were built for RS-3m's? I'm asking because I can't find any pictures of them in any EMD locomotives. Thanks in advance!

My museum friend is pretty confident the control stands came out of EMD units (the one in his RS-3m still has an EMD data tag), but he's not sure what specifically they came from.

Here's some progress on the Penn Central/ Conrail #9950 Variant RS-3m (for the first time in almost 2 years)

ALCo RS-3m (No Short Hood) Render #2.2.jpg

Here's a picture of the top of the long hood. The fans are from a free model on Blend Swap: https://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/90642 Don't worry, I have no intentions of taking that model and using it as my own (I only need the fan model). I'm going to give credit to the original model maker.
ALCo RS-3m (No Short Hood) Render #2.3 (Long Hood Detail).jpg

Here's a more detailed picture of the rear of the engine
ALCo RS-3m (No Short Hood) Render #2.3 (Rear Detail).jpg

Here's the first render of this model to show the changes I've made so far.
ALCo RS-3m (No Short Hood) Render #1.jpg

I still need to add more parts to the overall model, update old ones, finish the cab and I still need to finish the trucks. Overall, I think it's coming together pretty nicely.

I'm curious as to what the story behind this chopped rs3 that the PC and CR used. Was it involved in a freak accident and they wanted to salvage what they could, or was this some sort of intentional experiment?
