I can't believe that. I have a sub-par laptop with onboard AMD graphics and my resolution is just about the lowest it can go and graphics settings are mostly set to the low end of the scale. .....

My problem here is mostly related with the monitor I use, a 1680 x 1050 with a GT730, a much capable card that could use with a much higher resolution.

I would expect also you will do a good job with the tracks laying, track speed and signals, which are as important as the scenery itself. !*cheers*!

That worries me a bit. I think I'm a competent track layer, signals are a bit of a mystery to me but what I have put down so far seems to indicate the right aspects. At the moment I am going through the route changing and checking speed limits and placing signs. When this is ready for beta then having people double check my signals may be the most important feedback I can get. In any case, thanks for following along on my journey and helping to keep me motivated.

Here when you are ready with tracks, some of us can help to beta test and chase those invisible speed gaps and help troubleshooting signals failures. I have learned some tricks lately in those departments.
The problem with this kind of testing is that only one person can have the tracks.bin and track layers at a time. Signals (other than the models) and speeds are saved in there.

Your latest shots with the SD40-2.....Oh mama! !*YAAA*!

Wow I'm Really Loving How It Looks!
Da Build: Intel Core I5-9600k, Nvida RTX 2060 Super, 32 GB ram, and way too much storage.

Ah, okay now it's making sense. I run TS2016 in windowed mode since the fps goes down a bit too dramatically if I have it full screen. The game is presently set to 1166 x 768 on my 1600 x 900 17" laptop - man, I hate my laptop - at least for editing, in all other respects it's been a trooper.

Thanks. I had a suspicion you might like those. Coming up are a few more to take the latest run the rest of the way to Barstow.

Picking up where I left off with the screenshots. Going beyond Hodge since Barstow is not that far away.

1/3 of Hodge. It's about 3 dozen trees and a dozen structures at best. Exactly what I needed after working around West Colton, which I am still not finished with.

I hear ya brother.

How many miles do you have laid down so far?

I'm not sure why this first shot is here. I probably would have found it relaxing to sit in a caboose and watch the train snake around curves

Couple shots as we pass Lenwood. I'm not entirely sure but this may be the first time we've seen palm trees since Devore

I'll get back to ya with actual track miles tomorrow. I was going to take a run from West Colton to Yermo to get a number. I think I'll bypass the Colton-Palmdale cutoff and take the train from the receiving yard at West Colton through San Bernardino yards then over the Cajon Sub and diverge off the Needles sub for Yermo. I can't even remember what the mileage was the last time I did this, I got so used to thinking in terms of just 1/4 mile at a time.

Just past Lenwood the tracks go under 58.

And finally we reach Barstow. That's it for now until I do a bit more work at the Nebo Annex and Daggett and then I'll continue the screenshot run to Yermo.

I cant see your route .. I am trying to envision the scale. You are forced to go very very wide with your scenery. Looks like about 3000ft a side. It must be done flawlessly for so far - as the driver can see to the horizon! I can tell this is very challenging. You have amazing drive!

From Oro Grande all the way to Barstow it's very wide open. I would have placed assets out further except nothing stays in view at that distance so there is no real point and I didn't want to do it to satisfy the handful of crazies that will helicopter around. All I can say is thank DTG for asset blocks. I remember running the original Cajon in the times before asset blocks and thinking how impressive the builders were to place all those scrub assets individually by hand and then tilt and turn them to fit the contours of the land.

Enjoying the preview shots. The Cajon looks like a brand new route.

Glad you like them. I usually drive the original Cajon several times a week and most often in the area I am working on in my version and it does feel as if they are two separate routes.
