What is your definition of "very unfinished" ?

There's large portions I have wiped clean and restarted since the announcement I was going to release this, also there are areas I have never or rarely touched that need to get worked on.

Yes :D

Can you make it darker (the whole thing EDIT*: maybe not the piston rods and valves and stuff cause you can't see them with the old skin. ) and desaturate it (just the red) a bit though?

EDIT AGAIN*: I'm picky :D

Yea I noticed :D does anyone know what color red that is? I have several color charts but nothing looks close to the real thing. The windows and the end beams share the same texture so that's why they are also red. The same goes for the other parts you darken it and end up with parts you can't see. I will do what I can. I work weird hours so I will check back later. The BBCLCO Lettering will also work on the 2 truck shays and the vulcan.

Heres 2 textures I made real quick in Photoshop, I didn't know what shape or size was needed so I made them pretty big...

Metal is for the roof and the top is made to be pointed toward the front, and wood is for the windows/pilot beams :D

I haven't had much time to work on this. The I used the color textures you sent I think it looks much closer but what I mean by textures is the way the model is setup by the creator when its time to export. This picture shows the association between uncommon parts that remaining a solid color its no problem but when you try to add effects it has a different look on each part. There is no way to change it so do you want the ends all red or just the beams like the first on I did.

Ok I see what your saying, many parts share the same texture.

It looks pretty nice now although still overall a tad bright (the darkness on the top pic looks a lot better, but I don't know if it's just the lighting or a different skin), I like the pilot beams with the red steps but is it possible to have the bars holding them up black? or do they share the same texture as the wood (in which case just make only the pilot beam red).

Let me know what more can or can't be done and send me a copy cause its looking great *!!thnx!!*

Stunning - perfect for the yard work around the mills etc. I would buy a ticket to watch it try and get up the switch back *!lol!*

(I had contemplated asking, but didn't want to impose on your generosity or time, seeing as I had already asked about one for the New Haven !!*ok*!! )

!*cheers*!

Looks great!

If you could though there's just one little detail I would like to change *!greengrin!*

On the side of the cab is it possible to make the number bigger and have a square around it vs. the stripes?

Image

Other than that it's perfect! does it come in weathered as well? (not a problem if it doesn't)

Slightly relative to the thread...

Got this nice set of 3 on30 log cars and 2 disconnected log trucks for my narrow-gauge family this morning, since there's no thread on model railroading (or at least that I know of) I'll show them off here since it IS a logging route *!rolleyes!*

here they are with my Shay

Yes the Pilot beams and top of the steps can be red while everything else is black. I am fiddling with a different alpha to get the dullness. I did isolate the piston rods and the air compressor to make the silver a little shiner. There are going to be parts that will still be brighter that cant be helped. I will try to get them finished up by tomorrow.

It's not possible to make the numbers any bigger without editing the model's geometry (I'd have to increase the area of the faces used for the auto-numbering), so to get a square around the numbers with an even amount of space above and below the numerals, I had to put the top of the square a bit further down than I would have liked. I've added in the weathering, which does seem to suit it better, even with the striping.

My only doubt now is whether or not to put a square on the tender, although to do so would be a little bit trickier because of how the front end is texture-mapped.
