Guys! We will be releasing a major fix/upgrade to the route between Secaucus and Hoboken. I am now working new passenger QD's (Very similar to the way they are done on the NJCL Route) The new QDs will have new start points in Hoboken reflecting the Bergen County, Pascack Valley and Port Jervis Lines. You will also be able to terminate the runs along any of the stations along each route. We will also have new start points in Hawthorne, Suffern, Wood-Ridge, Waldwick and Otisville. I have configured generous amounts of passenger AI for the route, but you need to install these files to make it work.

The AI needs be seen to be appreciated - the trains ... they come at you from every direction there. They do come at decent intervals along the route. As of today, I am working the Westward QD and I have AI to Waldwick.

This file is the culmination of great work by our very own Overshoe! **!!bow!!** So, send him the beer not me!

I also hope to see multiple intermediate start points as well like on most DTG products, something I noticed right away as you seemed to only include the terminus stations where trains start and end as QD start points. In terms of that quick drive folder, I think it's redundant now since I have a Comet Soundpack that includes many lengths of Comet V consists with the ALP45, GP40, and F40 perfect for the route

Weellllll .... sort of. I am working on West Bound Right Now.
3 QD's out of Hoboken:
1. Hoboken - PVL ----> Wood-Ridge
2. Hoboken - PJL ----> Otisville
3. Hoboken - BCL ----> Suffern
And a loose one:
4. Hawthorne - EML ---- > Suffern
And a mandatory one (for Budd Cars)
5. Suffern ----> Otisville
Each station selection conforms to the stations for each line ( Sorry PVL, I only have one station)

I lack imagination - so drop some locations down - and I will " make it so".

Regarding your packs - if you can have them conform to ( Passenger - Regional to go WEST) and (Passenger - Commuter to go EAST) then your pack will work with all my QDs! And then you could make an add-in 'Compatible with the Bergen' and charge 5 bucks! *!greengrin!* I always wanted to see the Arrows run electric in Hill Yard. I did test it years ago and this version of Hoboken is fully electric friendly. Someday ... I make MUs ! Ill be working on the Qds' through release time ... so send your list in the next few days! Thanks!

All this time I thought you just copied and pasted everything in Hoboken (like another route creator did with crap results). I will pay more attention the next time I cruise through there!!

The terminal is definitely on my bucket list if I ever get out there. I'm looking more forward into seeing that than the tourist traps across the river LOL!! My wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting to go on a "train ride' when there's so much touristy things to do. meh

I can't say it enough how big a project this is, and how accurate and detailed you are doing it. I hope you enjoy doing it as much as we do exploring it.

A thorough visit to the Terminal can be done in 2 hours, with you checking out all the platforms, lobby, ferry slips and the Path Station below. Add another 3 hours for lunch/dinner and a walk around of Hoboken. I would recommend dropping some serious coin so you can stay high class in Hoboken here: https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/ewrhb-w-hoboken/ (it aint cheep,but the wife will luv ya). To get to Manhattan is easy - to get to the tourist part (Times Square and Broadway) I say take the ferry and then a cab at 39th St.! https://www.nywaterway.com/FerryTerminals.aspx. You mix this in with train rides from Penn Station to Secaucus and Hoboken - she wont be that mad. Remember it doesn't cost anything to plan! And frankly everything is easier when your prepared to spend the doh. Just sayin.

"Copy Hoboken" ? Get outta town! The only way to copy Hoboken would be to copy the NJCL and build off of that. The Bergen Predates the NJCL by 18 months and we started in Suffern, NY. Hoboken is my pride and joy, painstakingly recreated for our enjoyment. My version is a street by street, building by building representation. You need to get out of the train and "walk" down the street. I even modeled Hoboken City Hall! I would just freak out if people thought that I copied Hoboken off of the NJCL route. Compare the 2 routes to the real thing and let me know what ya think! *!greengrin!*

Copy Hoboken - sheesh! !*lho*!

Thanks Minerman for the consideration, I'm gonna consider that so they can also spawn on the DTG routes (NEC, NJCL, M&E) as well. Having the packs updated on the RWA file library will be the hard part though as you have to manually contact Bob to upload the files. The ALP-46 would be an exception though as both the locomotive or cab car can either face east or west. And no need to release the QDs, I will re-release them in the updated enhancement packs myself. Gotta wait for the CT NJT 4109 though so I can make them as up to date as possible.

Openrailer - do give it consideration! in the meantime I continue to work the QDs. Like, everything else they take time, I like to add static consists and rolling stock here and there to add some life. I just left Waldwick with the AI and scenery work. I hope I can get East bound done by Friday - it doesn't look so good for that at the moment.

The picture below shows working signals in the train shed in Hoboken. IRL they are a single light, on the Bergen we had to use the dwarfs. Whats cool about them is you get a green to the first third of the platform and then that trips the red. Trains in the block pointed at a platform turn the signal white. I was hoping this would give me one last green on the way in from the last signal but alas no.

20200105141421_1.jpg

This is another signal shot facing east. Well, there is a train approaching. This reminds me of how barren the tracks are when it should be teaming engines and coaches. I made the call to load up the scenery. I made the call to sacrifice dense trains for dense scenery. For what its worth, in 32 bit I can run 5 AI trains with one player consist. Then its starts to stutter. Facing West from the platforms is what is killing FPs with all the scenery, wire, signals and trees. Fortunately the rest of the route is not as rich as this part.

Do a search for “Pascack Valley” in the workshop. It’s a pretty nice route, but when you roll into or out of Hoboken there are elevation changes that would scare Evil Knievel. There’s a read me in the download that basically says “Don’t go there.”

Oh I most certainly know that route. My buddy Penn built that when he was in high school. He had a h-e double hockey stick time with that. Actually I did too. DTG brushed it off like it was no problem. Here is why his track looks like it does.
1. The overall grade is 0.3 going down hill from the Bergen tunnel.
2. The yards on either side of the main tracks (3,1,2 4-119) are almost flat.
3. The main tracks (3,1,2 4-119) are higher than the yard tracks until maybe 1000 foot before the platforms.

So you have a continuous down hill grade that the main tracks have to make up for as they get closer to the station. So at that 1000 foot mark the grade becomes 0.6-0.8 down hill. I had to stage test track to represent the different grades on the yards to the main track and have them meet up perfectly ON GRADE. All those double-slips are on a 0.3 grade. Saying this was complex is an understatement. I have the utmost admiration for DTGs track skilz! !!*ok*!!

*Snark alert* As my route is NOT Amtrak, I had to make it extra-special to get people to even think of running on the Bergen. Truth be told I was always very conscious of the obscurity of my route. On the other hand I want to barf with all the drooling over the North East Corridor - so to each his own! At the time I was mentally competing with this fabulous Boston to New York Route in workshop which to this day totally beats me in subscriptions. I learned super el from CactusJuice - who is a great guy by the way, who did the track for the route. The route continues to be developed to this day, just as this one is.

Re: Hoboken ... tell your friends ... MINERMAN BUILT HOBOKEN FROM SCRATCH its NOT A COPY! !*roll-laugh*!

One more thing - I know it and you guys know it ... the scenery from Suffern to Rutherford looks like crud compared to the rest of the route. I have been on it for days now and I cringe looking at the trees and foliage and the structures. I remember being very frustrated using Sherman and Munich as my only assets, and that area is like 90% those assets as it was built before NJCL came out. I hope to improve that area some time.

Carry on!

I thought I'd be cool if I showed this to everyone. A Metro-North version of the Comet V railcar. I've been working on it over the past few days, and have completed it! *!greengrin!*

And of course, my inspiration for this came from here. !*salute*!

I also created custom destination boards relative to the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines. (I left Long Branch as sometimes the MN cab cars like roaming on the NJCL. *!!wink!!* )

The numbering code is as follows:

A = Spring Valley
B = Port Jervis
C = Long Branch
D = Hoboken
E = Secaucus
F = Suffern

Unfortunately though, the odd mapping messed some things up.

- Backward and messed up logos are part of it on the right side.

Note: The numbers are also static to 6707, a cab car (for accurate number placement). This will be updated in the future.

Oh, this is freaking cool!
The reversed texture mapping.. not cool! I bet these are tough to fix.

Awesome work! The original author of that repaint is Russell Sullivan, but I don't know the exact download link of that so I can make the bins for it a official part of my mod.
