Kali wrote:Scaling: don't need to. 1m in Max ( I'd hope you're using metric, RW is almost all metric ) is 1m in RW. Importing, there are Max export plugins on railsimulator.com, they only work up to Max 2011 though and you can't use the slate material editor in 2011 either. Exporting is easy enough, export as Kuju IGS, and make sure you've got "Use Namespaces" or similar ticked.

Thanks for the help. :D Now that I know I can continue with project more updates in the near future now.

here's what I do sometimes do if I have a jpeg of a technical drawing with measurements on it. I make a box with the same dimensions as the picture's size in pixels, in whatever units the modelling program uses, and texture a face of the box with my jpeg. Then I make another "ruler" box which is exactly the width or height of the biggest measurement shown in the picture. I put the ruler box with translucency in front of the "picture" box. Then I scale and move the picture box until the measurement fits exactly on the ruler. That way I can be sure that the picture is now scaled correctly. After that, it's just a matter of using the picture box as a background, i.e. placing it behind your model, so that you can then shape your model using the picture as a guide.

That is a great idea I used the blue print feature to make cars and such before but never thought how easy engine blueprints are to get a hold of.
I'm gonna use these to make sure i got it right. http://trainiax.net/drawings/alco/alcoc630.gif

If you think that's easy, get a hold of real blueprints and Autodesk Inventor. With some experience in the program, I was able to make my MT14 in 3 hours, windows, control section, wheels, and grill. Lost it in my crash, when I get my new SSD I'll do a stop motion of me making it over again.

How's the progress coming on this?

Any chance you'll be doing a MLW version of it?

Thx
