You know, I have really been considering this for a long time. The thing that turns me off a bit is working with engine scripts and values that I don't have. Of course, I could always just make it until it seems to perform decently, send it off to people for feedback on the physics, and then move on. I can tell you though, locomotives are definitely in the future. But before I move on to that, I have plans for more rolling stock, like articulated wells, spines, more hoppers, tankers, boxcars, perhaps specialized equipment. All optimized for re-skinning. I may squeeze a locomotive between there though. Perhaps some ideas for the future. I want to hear from everyone first. I have an almost unlimited range of options, and am willing to do any era I can get enough info from. I'm not so sure about steam locomotives yet.

Could definitely use some more modern tank cars. The default ones are good, but not all tankers are the same out there.

That was exactly my thinking!
For anyone interested in where I get my scale drawings from, here you go: http://trainiax.net/. This site also has other resources, such as Phase differences, coloured and branded train drawings, colour sheets and more. Really a great place!

Yes, it has rotating end caps. Unfortunately, you can't replace trucks on other models, as they are part of the mesh. *!sad!*
I am also to make 70-Ton ASFs and Barbers.

You're going to have to teach me to make wheels and trucks in sketchup, I also use sketchup and have problem with the trucks, haven't tried to make wheels yet. I hope to later build some freeware American steam for the game.

Well, I can tell you, it took some time to understand how to make complex curves, and now, I think I have it down. I started really getting into Sketch-Up during the last school year while building a model of the NewFlyer D40LF (made here in Winnipeg!). The windshield is a bugger.

Very nice, however I'm afraid to ask what the Tri count is.

Are the grills along the top of the car full 3d or textured with alphas?

Well, I haven't got a number yet, however, the number will be pretty high. I do plan to have quite a few LODs. The top mesh is an alpha map.

Woah, where did this come from?

Montréal you say?
Yeah I know, I didn't do what I said I would and skipped right to a locomotive, but, hey, I was looking at it and thought, "yup, that's the one."
Still very WIP. The Cylindrical hopper is essentially finished, just wait for a few modifications, textures, LODs.

What locomotive is this? At first I thought it was a widecab GP40, but it doesn't look right for that. The back of the long hood makes me think GE, but I can't tell for sure.
