It's interesting that the gray in your photo is actually lighter than the color I used on the model for the sim. This is typical of the challenge of trying to make colors look realistic in the sim.

That photo you have looks like a display car, with sun fading on top. Also, after 1952, the trucks were silver. I think yours are very nice, I just thought you might be interested.

Why not use the UP colors from either the G-Trax or DTG cars. They look good in the sim.

The yellow is the same color, the gray just about 4-5 points lighter on the RGB scale.

Guys, please don't take the subject of colors so pedantically: there are no "right" colors !
Colors are objectively correct only for a certain locomotive or car and only at a certain time. And our memory deceives us enormously !
We had a discussion years ago on rail-sim.de about the right colors of a german "Schienenbus":
https://www.eisenbahnfreunde-zollernbah ... 090407.jpg
The colors on the photo are about appropriate today. I went to a rail museum at that time and saw a Schienenbus in restoration, whose paint was sanded through to the original paint. It was a much bluer red than in the photo and in my memory.
Then last week I discovered something else, Roger Bee showed it: Not even railroad companies stick to their color schemes.

That certainly applies to the UP as well. No matter if the paint is new or old and dirty.
Better be happy about variety !

Thank you Kris. After living most of my life near the UP I can report that it is truly amazing the difference as UP yellow ages and from years ago when they still ran passenger trains you would see different shades within a consist. I did how many locos in that hood series and nary a comment about color. I recently darken the alpha quite a bit particularly on the roof since depending on the light it showed as near white at high noon. Further I trend toward using 3D cloudy for the sky and it shows things a lot different from the default sky. Then add in the difference in monitors and you add another variable. !*salute*!
!*cheers*!

The CN black and red livery is beautiful, but it fades out to black and pink.

Harry

When I'm wrong I admit it. I keep digging until I find out what's what. Harry you made me look back one more time and I was getting the gray from the wrong place on the G-Trax texture. !DUH! I fixed the problem and I think now everyone will be happy.
