In a pinch you could alias somebody else's trucks if those are the only thing stopping you :-)

This isn't so much an update but a question.

Somthing I've been wondering for the past few days is if the entire model or the trucks are out scale. Or am I just imagining things.
ALCo RS-3 Render #5.jpg
I added rails under the trucks and spaced them 4ft 8 1/2in apart and it appears to be in scale. I'd like a second opinion on the scaling of everything. *!!thnx!!*

Just for fun I was messing around with some freeware parts from 44090 Digital Models (http://44090digitalmodels.co.uk/bitsbox/index.html) and I came up with this.
ALCo RS-3(UK) Render #1.jpg

It could be thought of as a UK import for a heritage railroad or a RS-3 built new for the UK. I don't think am going to finish it and include it in the pack. But if everyone is actually interested in it, I might go about finishing it and including it. So let me know what you think about it.

Nice model !!*ok*!!
I think your scaling looks fine. You'll find when you add more detail they will look right.

Your actually not too far wrong with your uk version.
There was a handfull of Alco S2s (I think) exported to the UK to work in a steel mill.
Complete with buffers.
Frontrunner in the file library now!

Really? I never knew that. The reason I was wondering about scaling was because the trucks look like they're to far under the frame.

Thanks! It's going to be a complete RS-3 with slug units. Plus possibly a couple of variations.

This is something I'm thinking of including:

How about Hammerhead?

Very nice!

Some other potentially key details are things like vertical or horizontal front stack, whether or not there's a steam generator exhaust, horn location, number board location, class lights. These units lasted a LONG time and lots of owners used them different ways.

Here's another update
ALCo RS-3 Render #6.jpg

As you may have noticed, there has been some more progress done to the trucks. Here's a close up.

I have also added those trucks to the slug unit as well.

If you're doing the hammerhead I can put you in touch with someone who works at a museum that has the last surviving one, and he can get you pictures.

Later would love to see this in CB&Q, Burlington Route, it would fit perfectly on the route I'm working on.

CB&Q never owned any RS3s. They did have a small fleet of S2s though. 9300 to 9308.
