Man! I wish I could do that! But I guess I will just stick to route building and painting and running the site and...

Every one of us has something that we're good at, such as some can build rolling stock, some can build routes, some builds scenery and so on.

It all comes together to make one, everyone helping each other where needed be.

Such as, I can build scenery, but I can't build routes worth a flip, or repaint, so I'll leave that other stuff to someone else.

Wow! !*drool*! That looks good! I wish I could do that! Modeling using a computer can net you a great job be it video games, movies, tv shows, etc.... you could make a lot of money doing stuff like that. !!*ok*!!

I'd love to repaint or even make rolling stock or even make routes, thing is I actually don't know how to do so, But I'd be willing to learn how so I can contribute and become a content creator as well as many of the talented people on this forum.

If someone is familiar with moving freight car models from sketch up to railworks if you could please help me with the process of importing to railworks or point me to a tutorial would be great.

Already done making the model? That was fast! Keep in mind you are still going to have to make the trucks and other details and I agree with the other guy GreatNortherner is a modeler himself and makes great models.

No I'm not done yet but I like to keep things organized so I wanted to get it figured out. Thanks I'll message great northerner so that I can get his help with this.

No problem any questions you have about modelling and he will answer them and possibly even show you a few tricks or two.

Here's my progress for today mostly detail work and fixing some errors I made yesterday. Those corners and the lift holes on the end of the car were challenging to figure out. the texture was just a quick one I slapped on to see how the car looked.

That looks great! !*drool*! If your up for it I can see if I can find some images of the rotary dumping machine if you like but most of the time the machine is indoors. You can drop the cars off loaded and then later they could be unloaded and appear empty during the next scenario or if it can be done it can be unloaded within the scenario. Either way keep up the work it looks awesome! !!*ok*!!

Found a video of an HO dumping machine that unloads the cars perfectly then you can not only model it but see how it works! Check it out:

Hope this is of some help and it would make a more realistic dumping mechanic than just having the car gravity dump the contents, it's not realistic for rotary dumpers to do so.

Here's my progress for today. The couplers aren't mine I just put them on for looks. Also I did a trial quick paint job to see how it looked. As for the rotary dumper it would be an awesome partner for the car although I would imagine to script it might be challenging for someone me who has never done it.

Great job on the railcar! I know the couplers are for looks, but that looks just like the images I shared! Nice work on them. As for the rotary dumper, it was just a suggestion. It would add realism for the simulator.

Will it be scriptable to animate and could the simulator handle something that complex? I don't know, just something to think about. If it can't be done, the existing tranfer points would work for now. Maybe the overhaul to the new graphics engine would allow for that in the future, but not now. But the idea is there to take for other modellers and scripters out there.
