Hello All,

Well, I've finally joined the rest of the group around here and subscribed to the Bergen Line, mostly due to NStrains dynamic screens of the route. Maybe he or someone could explain how to use the route as a freight line as many of NStrains screens show. Like, where do trains originate from and go to. Are there yard to yard transfer capabilities. How about switching say the Dundee spur or Ford plant. It took me quite a while to figure out Western Lines of Scotland, another impressive complex route. Maybe I could save a little time here.

Many Thanks,

Overshoe - you were supposed to be my first response. I can explain how I did the marsh in two words:

And NSTrains ... I instantly found the track break. This means a hot fix to go out in the next few hours. You will get any scenery work I have done from Friday to Tonight!

For your consideration, a photograph. This is the Eastern abutment of a very long trestle. It also answers a question I had regarding elevation (elevation is everything on the Bergen) this is steep and covered with trees. And, it will be built! As you may know by now, in the winter I can look out my window (as I am right at this moment) and see the (CORRECTION: Hat Tip JoshuaHarkness: This ridge is the Schunemunk not the Shawangunk) . I am at 850 ft which puts me about 450 higher than the track grade which is about 5 miles away from my living room. This is a superb view. In the many years I have lived in Orange County, I have never driven on Otterkill Road to see the viaduct from the Eastern Side. This afternoon I drove over there and was awestruck. Pictures do not do this trestle justice. You must be on location to appreciate the engineering and the raw natural beauty of this location. So now, I am HIGHLY MOTIVATED to reproduce this location. I am working out how to give you a 3D tree canopy as you traverse the viaduct. It is 100 feet high than the surrounding trees. This is key, along with topo, to make this convincing.

This image does not capture the majesty of the entire span. It is a detail shot, I will work from to detail the area.

You must be looking at a scenario. These are payware locomotives from the Sherman Hill route as the name says.

I will go with ..... oOnightfireOo"s version of Sherman Hill is still packed as the .ap and he is looking the Quick Drive. Protip for route builders, if possible, keep your .ap files packed, if you don't and you lay assets down, users with packed aps don't show the asset. OR the end user can unpack (unzip) the Sherman Hill and all will be well.

I have gotten dinged by this more that once ... and you guys know I am all about player satisfaction! Geez, I didn't my slogan "A Route That Does Not Disappoint" for nuthin! *!greengrin!*

Ok here is the route update that was missing from Friday. First order of business: NO UPDATE from Friday past, and I may defer this week as well. Why? Just take a look at this darn picture below! Elevations. I got up to 900 foot elevation differentials from the roadbed, the dopey track traverses a valley with a stream in the middle, the darn thing is surrounded by houses and you can see for several miles because from the stupid train you can look up the valley cross the trestle.
20170220005154_1.jpg

Lets call this practice for the Moodna. And to all you naysayers that say "The birds eye view doesn't matter" I say your all wet. Every darn winter, people get on the Bergen, defoliate my route, throw snow all over the place and marvel that they can see houses two miles away. They see the houses because people like to live on the side of steep hills here in New York. Your modest route builder sees this, pours a long Bourbon, and deeply regrets rule #1 "If they can see it from the train it goes in". Then I get cracking.

Have a great week guys - don't work too hard.
MM
