Lol just kidding. it looks very interesting.

Believe it or not, these were actual modifications done to RS3's. *!greengrin!* http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoPi ... x?id=24158

The issue I forsee with Katy repaints is the engine number location. Katy had most of their numbers on the side of the long hood instead of underneath the side windows. This will make autonumbering hard. I wish that we had a way around this, like a child object that included autonumbering. I also wish that DTG would give us a real asset editor that allowed you to relocate and resize the numbers and logos to fit where you needed them for your repaint. Maybe this could be suggested if anyone has any contacts with DTG.

.338 will do nothing against a loco. That's like taking a .22 to kill an elephant.

Not to steer this one back on track, but since Ryan is making this unit from scratch, he can place the autonumbering area in one place for the MKT units, and then have a second version with the autonumbering elsewhere for repainting.

Currently testing the limits of detail for a model. I'm currently updating the test freight car to have all of the components of the ALCo Slug unit.

Here it is. Currently it sits at 141,116 Tri's, the slug has 167,416 Tri's. I still need to add the rest of the slug to this.

For anybody wondering, this is the current state of the slug to give an idea of what's left

think it would look interesting.

The quote above is from September, when I first added a nose similar to the one above to the RS-3M.
ALCo RS-3m Newer RS Nose Render #1.jpg

When I did this, I thought that these body RS's never received those noses and that it was all a fantasy me and GenericZack had. But apparently at least one did, a rebuilt (I think) RSC-2
bfj 5.jpg

What's weird is that minus the trucks, it looks almost identical! I've been looking for pictures hoping to find something like this because out of all of the models so far, this is tied with the hammerhead as my favorite bodied RS-3. Now I would do this specific RSC-2, but I don't know where to even find reference pictures and blueprints for those trucks. *!sad!* *!sad!*
Thanks for taking the time to read this. If anybody knows what kind of trucks those are please let me know. *!!thnx!!* *!!thnx!!*

Not only is that unusual but i found this aswell

Oh and what do you know, it has a similar heritage to the 5!

468milw.jpg

"Formerly an Alco RSC2, originally equipped with A1A-A1A trucks to better spread the weight of the Locomotive on light trackage, # 468 suns herself in New Lisbon, Wis., ca. 1970. I can't trace the heritage of the #468. Several RSC2's were retrucked in the 1960's, and at least three (#'s 493, 580 & 581) were given the Alco Switcher Truck to replace the originals.
Here, this unit has been renumbered into the series that held Milwaukee's Alco RS3's, #'s 450-470. 450-464 were retrucked in 1963, giving their original AAR Type ' B ' trucks to a like number of EMD GP30's. RS3's # 465-470 retained their original trucks, but retirements allowed the Milwaukee to drop other engines in to open number slots---like the 468 here.
Goofy looking engine, but capable enough to handle any chores Milwaukee threw at her. In addition to receiving these switcher type trucks, Milwaukee Derated the engines that got them, from 1500 and 1600 hp. to 1200 hp. Technically, according to Milwaukee's locomotive classification system, # 468 is now a '12A-RS'. She was classed at one time as a '15A-RS6'."

Those trucks really makes for an odd looking locomotive. After all this time, I'm still surprised at just how many strange modifications these body RS's got.

Right now it's only in the game as a freight car, but it's still a very nice sight to see after all of the hours I've put into this project.

Here's a size comparison to Britkits free RS-3

I'm expecting to start working on getting the cabs on all of the models done soon and also finally finishing the trucks instead of neglecting them. Hopefully after everything is done I can start the task of getting a operating locomotive in the game. !*brav*! !*brav*!
