Another more easily achieved and more widely used method for scenario variety is to not add any static vehicles in the route build. Carparks and driveways can be populated in scenario editor relative to the situation ie. empty factory carparks at night. Obviously it creates more work for the scenario creator but I think it's fun... it's like painting a backdrop for a theatrical production.

You idea makes sense. On my route most of the businesses would be closed in the evening and through the night. Traffic slows down greatly as well.

Yeah I've been thinking of how I can reduce traffic at night. Can't be done using the route editor/scenario editor method because they belong to the networks. There'll be a way... it's on the drawing board for my next route but at this stage I don't have time to play around with it. Anything is possible with Railworks though.

Edit: Having said that, my current route only runs between 5am and 10pm so the traffic flows, which vary quite a bit anyway, actually suit the situation quite well.

I've been playing around with occlusions the past two days. Absolutely loving it. As I made my way up the route placing roads/traffic I was adding occlusions and track sounds, when I came across the Southeast Boulevard bridges in Joyceton which have a significant gap between them. If anything was going to fully showcase the new features, this was it. I love it!

Trackspeed is 20mph here but when switching the yet to be laid yard to the left, trains will crawl back and forth under these bridges at 5-10mph, making these effects really prevalent.

I've set up a Facebook page for the route if anyone's interested. Mostly so that I can post questions about the prototype and members of the Alexander NRHS answer them for me, but there's also some photos and I guess it's a bit of a blog.

Wow. Your route is coming along nicely. I especially like the ivy climbing up the overpass supports.

Cheers guys. Still struggling away with the roads and traffic. I've got loads of varying interactive traffic to keep engineers alert. Managed to get cars pulling off a populated road into the RCAP gas station and stopping at the pumps as your train passes, pulling out and rejoining traffic once you've passed (which you'll see if you happen to be riding a caboose). It's VERY time consuming but I think when all is said and done it will be worth the effort.
