Another thing, the CN repaint had a round fuel tank, while the prototype has a more box-y, angular type. Just an observation. You don't need to make a change, just a suggestion. Love the model non the less. Absolutely Phenomenal! <- Lets see how many get this YouTube tech quote.

From the searching I did, it appears this newer, more angular tank is only found on CN's rebuilt, chop-nosed GP9s. The photos I came across of the as-delivered locomotives all showed the conventional rounded design. I suspect the boxy tank is an in-house modification applied to all CN GP9s, either when their noses were chopped or at some later date.

Good to see others looking into these variations nonetheless.

Hi,
The fuel tank was based on a BN/BNSF unit but I have many other images of it on other units in different liveries. I am aware of the different sizes and shapes, but not concerned with them just yet. (The CN unit will get a square tank however)
Once I have been through the liveries I will look at the variations and mods can be made in the time I have. For example some units have amber lights, different front and back lights, some units have windows that stick out, fuel tank sizes, dynamic brake, different size fans, torpedo tubes, snow ploughs, bells etc. Most of you guys know the differences more than I do.
Now I have been looking and researching these units for a few months now and while I can miss some stuff I will do all I can to have each unit as close to how it was, but in some cases I will be general just to have the reskin in.
First pass for me is to flesh out the liveries, second pass will be missed details and fixes.
Because I am making so many liveries I have to balance up where I focus my time, the curse of producing so many liveries in one pack. Each livery can and normally does add an extra day to production, more if the model needs the different details (which is almost always the case, each company loves to change things!)

regards

Hah! That was the mistake I made in the MSTS days. Going from very individual steam locos to diesel I read somewhere "one shape fit all". This will be easy I thought **!!bang!!**

Keep up the good work

Great to hear Derek. Glad to know theres such attention to detail being devoted to this model. I've certainly been impressed with recent DLC offerings with respect to this sort of thing. I presume Oovee is likely going to supply sounds for this unit? They've certainly done excellent work in the past, especially in the recent SW-1500 pack---the sounds are so immersing, it really adds a new layer of realism to the game.

After reading your response, I immediately searched for photos specifically of BNSF-owned GP9s; wouldn't it figure that three of the results on my first page featured the arrangement exactly as seen in your model. Keep up the great work!

Question. Is there going to be a low hood available? Will it be available after release?

Hi,
There will not be a low hood version in this pack, it has a different cab arrangement and I just don't have the time.
I will do one but it would probably be part of a larger pack. However I don't know yet To be discussed and planned.

cheers

Derek, any chance of getting a repaint kit with this model?
