Let's hear it for the Wednesday Route Report and Update Status, for this Friday, August 13th, 2021. Knock on wood baby!

As is customary, let's get it on with the update status report.

Every time I think about my poor U34CH and DTG, I come up with this song. Over a year ago they told DTM that the EL was no problem on the unit as they have a relationship with Norfolk Southern. Over 16 months later DTG says they are still waiting for an answer for approval. Dude, either you never asked or they just blew you off. Some relationship. But hey I know how it feels. But you spend 5 minutes on an email to NS while DTM and I spend a few thousand hours and me, a 1000 dollars to get this model to market and all you could put up is 1/3 of the model. It was supposed to be a 3 train pack! DTM is done, he will just sell it off of his site. I am just about done myself, though I don't give up so easy, as I am highly motivated. I can beat up DTG for being low T and while that appears to be true, I'm thinking NS doesn't really care. Sure, they can paint up EL units and send them to Kearny, NJ. Bachman, Atlas and all the rest have EL scale models - no problemo. You can get coffee cups, t-shirts, key chains or what ever with EL on it, but they cant answer an email... for months?

I searched high and low for trade mark registration and went here:

Search trademark database | USPTO
Search domain uspto.govhttps://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/search
Private trademark search firms will conduct searches for a fee. The USPTO cannot aid in the selection of a search firm or an attorney. Search firms are often listed in the yellow page section of telephone directories under the heading "Trademark Search Services" or "Patent and Trademark Search Services." Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC)

I got nuthin. I could spend $600 to do a trade mark search from a squad of paralegals, to what end? NO ONE HAS A FREAKING TRADEMARK FOR ERIE LACKAWANNA. While it is true that UP and CSX about 20 years ago had some cringeworthy demands to the scale model industry to use their logos. The big model outfits put up a full page ad in the New York Times that these railroads were beating up the little guy who was only promoting their business. UP and CSX as result become more friendly with the use of their marks.

I'm still trying to figure out how Norfolk Southern has a right to the mark. I believe its is because a Norfolk and Western Subsidiary - DERECO, owned the EL in 1968 and then cut bait in 1972 and left then EL to, uh, die. I suppose they had an interest right up to the point that the railroad assets, track, signals, plant and rolling stock went to Conrail in April of 1976. Seriously, what is the big deal?

Look I need some help guys, if any of you have any contacts with Norfolk Southern and their legal department, PM me a phone number and a name is all I need. Anyone with inside dope or an in with DTG, please PM me with a contact so I get an explanation as to how this fell through the cracks. Speaking of people with inside dope. I was going to make some insinuations that OTHER 1970s routes and stock get built ... but it appears that only CSX predecessor routes get in game on train simulator. Check it out!

Here is my thing - I built this route, it was Erie Lackawanna at one time, and as a kid I went on the job with my Dad while he drove the train. It was a great railroad with great people and they were very kind to me personally at the time. I played inside the box that DTG provided. Train Simulator is an amazing game, where you can actually build your own route and share it with the world. I gave to the game - how about a little love for the Bergen and the Erie Lackawanna? I just want to put Erie Lackawanna on the Workshop so I can make nice scenarios, is that too much to ask?

One more thing, after all these years ya think someone at DTG would pm me or something.

The rest of you mugs - you know I love ya. Speaking of love ... I forgot to shout out MainLines for his pics of da Bergen on da Dundee runnin Dieselwork's RS3.

Carry on.

My railway photos are back - you can access them from this thread viewtopic.php?f=24&t=21667a . Lots of UK steam and early diesels from the late 1950s and early 1960s.

I was going to post this last night but decided to stay on topic.

You know how I always say I work from imagery and pictures to try do the past justice. And you all probably heard me say I did Port Jervis in 1974 - well because. I very rarely put up source material so you just take my word for it, or check out Google Maps to see what I did. The funny thing is I saw this for the first time yesterday. So, think about your last visit on the route to Port Jervis ...now check this picture out from 1967.

portjervis1967.JPG

I always thought I was being clever knowingly putting scenes in the route from 40 years ago - knowing it would be highly unlikely anyone would check. So, remember, everything is there for a reason and echo from the past. ( Do you have any idea how hard it is to place telephone poles that have been gone for 30 years? *!lol!* )

Carry on.

Dieselworks RS3 Just installed it and it is not too different from Dick Cowens RS3 just with a little embellishments, however wheels and undercarriage are much darker than older model.

Compare also sounds, braking, throttle and cab details. Such a nice model!

Hello
Buzz 456 I installed your audio and smoke mod and really like it. The RS3 is really a good model, just little disappointed with the cab detail, think it should be a bit more detailed.

I think the control stands are some of the best I have seen by looking at the detail on the locking pawls. These are by far the most detailed I have seen. I have absolutely no issued with them. Ordering mine on Monday.

They run beautifully and with the patch/fix from Buzz smoke and sound match. You will not be disappointed.

Been running the RS 3 and it is beautiful. I retract all my criticism. When you look at the model closely it is beautiful.
