The Empire Builder was in 'Big Sky Blue' as well

Lots of details left to do, and has anyone got a clue where the dome and superdome textures are hiding?

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzt.... Not there. the rest of the cars draw from the 'Livery' files in the 8-4-4. One change does all you see here. The big 'Rocky logo and such is going to be a decal to save a lot of time. The rest, eh..... just work.

Now we just need SDP40s and SDP45s! I guess since I have an SDP40 that I work on, I could see what I could do for a child object for the SD40-2.

Ah this looks great! I hope we'll see a Sky Blue F7 soon too. Now all we need is a GN Era Hi-Line... !!*ok*!!

The textures were hiding under the name DomeSide. Dang, the way the draw uses the textures these will be stubborn (a pain...).

I know you are only starting with the repaint, but the Empire Builder somehow looks less "majestic" to me in that modern scheme.
Despite the IMO somewhat somber colours, the train many of us were surprised with looks very stylish and classy on home rails over Marias Pass.

It seems RSC plays the same tricks again to make repainting difficult of not impossible.
Good luck on your quest to decipher those textures.

No doubt many of us look forwards to the complete train.

This is the intermediate Empire Builder with SDP40 power.

Progress of a sort.

I wonder; I know the F7s got the blue, did any E series locos get it? I know the CB&Q section of the EB had E8s and silver ribside head end cars into Chicago.

According to this page/pane http://www.greatnorthernempire.net/GNEG ... sterE7.htm none of the E7's received Big Sky Blue paint. Being mostly 1945 built, only a few made it into BN service.

According to this page/pane http://www.greatnorthernempire.net/GNEE ... nsists.htm there were no Pullman sleepers in the Empire Builder.

PS: were there icicle breakers on the F units during winter season? Or were the dome car's windscreens icicle proof?

OT question: are the Pennsylvania cars above lightweights or heavyweights with a modified roof?

I see 4 wheel trucks, flush mounted windows and single vestibules, so I think they are lightweight cars. They are named, so should belong to a PRR name train. Didn't PRR also run stainless steel sleepers etc. on Santa Fe and other west coast roads to and from NYC?

Also interesting are the (Chicago Metra?) double deck/gallery cars parked up front and the old fashioned marker lights on one of them. There is a cab car parked a little back down.

Sorry, I haven't forgotten. We've been working hard on the VRC GP40-2, and it's taken up most of my time. I'll get back to this in a week or two.
