Coal Barges

Unread postby emdsd90mac » Mon Jan 21, 2013 10:05 pm

Hi all!! Just wanted to show you peek at something I whipped up real quick the other night. I needed some of these for my WIP route so I figured why not. I did a loaded and empty version. Don't really know what the demand will be for these though.

Actually those are rather interesting.

They look great, later you should try some ships from the 1930's.

Such as a vintage ocean liner that would have been similar to the Titanic.

The Barges look good. Seen this alot around the Pittsburgh Pa. area. Throw in a river tug boat too.

Thanks you all!!! I still need to do a few improvments such as adding the draught numbers and bollards. I will then release them after that.

Yes, barges, a tug and a pusher is what we need.

These ships should feel right at home on the P&LE, which has many quays, locks and sluices in the Monongahela and Ohio rivers, plus the large industries located riverside.

Before I joined the Airforce in the 70's I worked on the Ohio just south of Pittsburg for Union Mechling biggest tugs on the Ohio. Would love to see the Steven J Crowley Tug, pushing those good looking barges. But I 'll be happy just to get the barges. They look awesome.

Funny you mentioned the tug boats, I am actually working on two different versions of them now along with a few other projects. I have updated the barges with lettering and such and created a double sized barge I read about in my research. I also created a quick set of bollards to be used on the docks for a little bit more realism. I will try they heck to get these done as soon as I can. I hate to keep you all waiting but life is getting in the way lately.

Actually, I have fired the engines back up so to speak and hope to have them released later on this week. What I plan to do is release several assets I have been piddling with over the last few months. So, be on the look out :D
