Angus Riviera (WIP)

Unread postby dazzharvey » Wed Jun 13, 2012 1:21 pm

Well after me playing around learning the ropes of the editor, I made a route called Carmyllie, which was a private railway in Tayside, Scotland, however due to no other fault than my own the route went all corrupted, thanks to my noob status not getting something fundamental correct at the begining of the route template process. I have since managed to get things right so far in this WIP.

However moving that aside I have kept the file somewhere incase i can salvage it one day but in the last 2 and half weeks I have been moving fast in the creation side of things sadly at the expense of me actually playing the game, I have loaded up a few new user created routes to have a good old poke around inside to try and get the right balance for how far away from the line to develop as some routes freeware or payware all vary on how far to paint and asset place etc.

I have taken the liberty to post up a few screen shots taken today, I haven't got a release date planned yet because I still have a lot of ground textures to paint but thought I would get some input on the progress so far.

Ah yes... the Project Platform, Platform. I have the same problem, been like that for awhile now. I am at a point now where I am ready to rip them out.

The sad part is that it's a beautiful and resizable platform. It also doesn't help that it comes close to what I need for a few stations on my route.

I agree, its a nice platform and the resize tool was a nice bonus, but after seeing the results i think I shall start it over - shame really, as that looked like the ideal tool for the job.

Lovely idea for a route, running by the seaside and along the foot of the cliffs.

I have seen that route in the recent BBC Britain by Train series, really spectacular scenery.

Would be awesome if like the prototype the trains will get splashed by seawater when the tide is high and there are strong winds blowing.

I have seen water spray on a train coach wash in the porstmouth route, I wonder if it can be adapted as ocean spray?

I think that would be very difficult for it will require massive amounts of animation in order to make the sea look real.

First you need rolling waves out at sea, then waves breaking on the shore and finally lots of surf hitting the wall before there is any water sprayed over the train.

Better stay with a still sea and calm weather, like holiday season (if us in Europe will ever get a summer this year *!mad!*)
