Big Power for the Adriana County

Unread postby JM1261 » Sat Aug 13, 2016 12:44 pm

Last month Adriana County traded three SD60Ms to TSLX for three ex-Florida East Coast SD70M-2s. The units, numbered 8200 - 8202, arrived on the property 7/28/16 and entered revenue service on 8/1/16. Soon afterwards, they were quickly herded to the Claiborne shop for light overhauls and new paint. Jump ahead nearly three weeks later, and the 70M-2 trio has been brushed up, painted, and placed back into service!

The original plan was to paint the engines in the standard ACRR black-and-red paint scheme, but things changed and all three ended up getting Operation Lifesaver and See Tracks? Think Train! stickers/decals. Additionally, the typical Adriana County font was replaced by Bank Gothic, the same font Canadian Pacific uses.

Big thanks to tagsdm for helping out on this project. He supplied both the red and ACRR logo so these engines would be accurate to the.. well, prototype *!lol!*.

Much obliged guys :D.

I got rid of the black gap on the cab sides and made the text on the flanks larger.

To be honest I think I like the black gap version more.. *!lol!*

I'll be packaging the engine up and sending it to my testers shortly!

These look great! Are you considering any GEVO locomotives (preferably using the Sherman Hill, Marias Pass, or Penn Coal versions)?

What if ACRR Turned into a Class Two?

Or better Yet:

What if the ACRR Interchanged with the SGRR?

IM liking where this thread is going with ideas!

A Fictional model railroad my Grandfather started that i aim to bring back to life in Train Sim. He called it The "Stratford Gap Railroad". When you see screen shots referring to "The Gap" then i'm talking about the SGRR.

!*cheers*!

Tagsdm and I had a conversation via PM the other evening and GEVOs were brought up. Time will tell, I guess!

I just realized how long GE has been out of AC's roster. Possible Dash 7's and a U30B? Only time will tell when one of these will be made. *!!wink!!*
