Can you get drawings that cover all the details or do you measure off of say and HO model and then multiply by 87?
Keep up the fine work.
I'd reiterate what Kali said- usually you'll get a reasonably accurate line drawing- usually from Model Railroader or RMC- and load it into your modeling program, using it as a backdrop. If you have sufficient photographs, details can be modeled by eye or using the photos as backdrops- I use blender, which allows you to load multiple backdrops at once. But from there out, there are no tricks, just good ol' 3d modeling, unless you have a 3d laser scanner of course!

I apologize for this render, as not much progress has been made, but I couldn't resist! I did some minor detailing/texturing work but most importantly corrected the front windshield shapes, which I'd say are a pretty big improvement.
Anyway,
Cheers
