N & W J 611 Update (6-5-26)

Unread postby mikeadams2k » Fri Jun 05, 2026 7:29 pm

Sorry I wasn't able to deliver by the end of the year as I had hoped. The 250th. Anniversary livery sparked my interest again. I'm hoping to get a release out in several weeks. In the meantime, here are a couple of shots of the anniversary livery. I still have to do the tender.

Here's the Tender. I still need to add the commemorative placards on the lower front of each side to finish the 250 anniversary livery for the tender. The tender itself still needs some work as does the engine. I've decided to release the engine as a "beta" version by the end of the month (Hopefully). I hope to have most of the modelling done and after the release, finish the remaining issues such as sound, particles and physics and upload them as updates.

This look's amazing! I love how shiny it looks. Can't wait to double head this thing with Machine Rail's SLSF 1522.

Here's the link to the .rwp for the 611 As I mentioned, consider this a "beta" version. The engines are operable, but many features are not available, or are missing and much is incomplete. I'll continue to work to complete the engine and post updates as necessary. This engine is Freeware and NOT for sale. Other than the Blender models, I don't own any rights to the logos, trademarks, etc. They belong to their respective owners. Some may say there is a lack of N&W/N/S route to run this wonderful engine on. Keep in mind, since it has been an excursion engine for 30+ years, you can kind of "justify" running it wherever. This is a shot of the N&W main at Waverly Ohio, with the 611 heading towards Portsmouth. This did happen quite a few times in the 90's. Many thanks again to Mike, who allowed me to be a beta tester during the development of this engine.

The NERW Lafayette Route was/is a reproduction of NS tracks so could reasonably be used.

Thanks for the replies! I forgot to mention that there is a sheet with the current working keyboard commands in the Manuals folder of Railworks. Brakes, throttle, and reverser are the standard TS controls.

Here's the first update. This corrects some mislabeled entries in the PreLoad files and the engine and tender .bin files. It makes selecting the correct engine/tender combinations easier in both the Quick Drive and the World Editor. In the World Editor, there is an extra entry - N & W J Tender, which is actually the Anniversary tender. I can't remove this without a complete re-install at this time. I'll wait for some more updates before I do this.
