If anyone is interested in the history of the former Parkersburg-area B&O lines that are now run by CSX and the LKRR, this is a good article

Before I finish the Industrial Harbor Steel Route, I want to finish up a couple other things, this one being one of them. I didn't have SRTM data when I started this one, and my route building skills have come a long way since then, so I'm just starting over and it will actually probably be easier:

I had forgotten you had started this route. I mentioned back in 2020 I am VERY close to this route. Great to see you have terrain data loaded. I have been thinking about doing the Parkersburg area, and up to Marietta. I look forward to more progress. Joe

Worked on the home base area and on the bridges at the mouth of the river.

It's my understanding that the LKRR crosses to get to the CSX yard in Marietta rather than CSX bringing cars to them. Do you know if that's the case?

I will say I have never seen any motive power on the Ohio side to Marietta that wasn't CSX,or now Belpre Industrial Park. I would expect CSX interchanges at the lead to the LKRR. Plus you may know they are using the old line toward Clarksburg for car storage.

I asked someone from CSX that I know who knows people who would know, so we'll see...and yes, that's a lot of "knows" *!greengrin!*

If you happy to be down that way, any ground level perspective pictures of the main area of operations, especially of the Wells Group Concrete, Tetra, and whatever building that is on the southeast side of the highway overpass that receives covered hoppers, that you can get safely and legally would be super helpful, as I'm mainly just working from google now. I had family down that way that I used to visit but they moved.

I confirmed from my contact at CSX that they drop cars at the end of the LKRR track, so that's about where my active route will end, but I'll rough in the scenery along the other side so it can be expanded.

The more I research Parkersburg, the more interesting it is! Would be really cool to model Upper and Lower Yard and the trestle that goes through town. I found a really good resource on it: https://www.wvncrails.org/parkersburg-t ... art-i.html

I have been focusing on modeling around the terminal part of the route, mostly along the route tracks but also across the river. I think I have serviceable model of the former Corning glassworks coming together!
