Got the late model ones when they were using UP colors. Now starting on the "Hiawatha" colored cars.

OK all you research freaks. The Hiawatha trains went through a few iterations on their paint schemes but somewhere back in the foggy recesses of my mind it seems that at one time the lettering was in like gold leaf not red. My familiarization with these trains was after they changed over to the UP paint scheme but I will do any versions within the confines of the model that we can do. Looking for car names also.

I believe what you're thinking of is the 1948 scheme for the Hiawatha cars. It featured two red stripes across the car, with the 'Milwaukee Road' in gold in the top. Most of the MILW 261's consist are in this scheme I believe.

Just about all of them are now, with the exception of Lake Pepin, which is a Stainless car, but has a maroon window border to match the other cars.

Glad to see you doing these Buzz. Here are a couple of resources you might find useful:

A similar font to the Hiawatha car-name style; not exact, but a good basis for a "Franken-font": http://www.1001fonts.com/air-conditioner-font.html

Car names with lots of photos: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/rsList ... MILW&cid=7

Finally got the yellow ones done (relatives visiting for a week so playing host). They should be ready to go to the library for this weekend.
