I originally came up with the idea for an HOn3 layout, but it has found it's way in TS. The runs from Etna, CA to Hayfork, CA with 3 branches. Ideally I would set the time period as 1915, but Trinity Lake was formed in around 1960 and the DEM data has a big lake over part of the route now, so I've had to work around that when laying track in the sim. The main industries served is mining and timber, including the LaGrange Mine near Weaverville,CA which was once the largest hydraulic mine in world.

That 2-8-0 looks really nice, did you paint and letter it yourself? The tank style tender is also a nice touch :D

Yes, I did. The engine is a brass model of Southern Pacific No.1 (the prototype engine was originally built by Baldwin in 1914 for the Nevada-California-Oregon Rwy. as their No.14, then became Southern Pacific No.1 and operated on the Carson & Colorado. It was then sold to the Nevada County Narrow Gauge. The NCNG replaced the original whale back tender with a square one. After the NCNG closed in the early 40's, it went to the U.S Navy and used at Pearl Harbor and scrapped sometime after the war. Also it is said the Navy removed the lead truck making it an 0-8-0). The model was made by Westside. I Also replaced the original open frame motor with a new can motor. I plan on installing DCC into it at some point. However I've never been very happy with the color I painted the smoke box and I plan on repainting it with something that would resemble more of a graphite color, instead of the light gray color it has now. The "whale back" tender it is equipped with, was a somewhat common design on the west coast. The Southern Pacific used the design on several classes of engines, and a number of narrow gauges on the west coast and in Hawaii used the design as well.

My old MSTS Fictional, Minnesota & Northwestern Transportation.
Had bought out the MRL's Former NP trackage, and BNSF's Stampede Pass to the West Coast. One section of GN from Mpls to Casselton, ND. Scheme is derived from NP and BN.
