Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad

Unread postby dleeboy » Sun Aug 16, 2015 2:17 pm

I am thinking of starting a new route. This will be a fictional Narrow Gauge Route based on the real scenic railroad located in Yosemite. I am asking if there is any interest for it. I plan on using only two Payware items this time for this route. The Stevens Pass Route for his trees and Britkits 3ft. Logging Track Pack. That pack costs $12.84. for people in the United States. I am looking for feedback if this would be a route that people would be interested in having. The original route is only four miles long but since this is going to be a fictional route I will make it longer. I will stick with using only freeware assets that can be downloaded from Railworks America and Golden Age of Railroading sites. I will probably use 3dtrains assets also, but he has freeware versions of his assets available to download.

I have not started this route yet. And I have not even bought the 3ft. Logging Track Pack yet. I want to know if there are enough people that are interested in running a Narrow Gauge Route. There are other narrow gauge routes that have been made but the ones I have seen use regular track not narrow gauge track. I think this would be a fun route to run. And there must be Narrow Gauge Route enthusiasts out there. This route will be running through a dense amount of trees like the real route.

I would be interested in another narrow gauge route with Britkits NG package now available. We already have G-Trax Durango and Silverton route with NG equipment. We could sure use more rolling stock.

I am definitely interested. With the rolling stock Dick has made and the stock from the Durango route, we can have a lot of fun with a new NG route.

Yeah! We need some narrow gauge and this would be perfect.

What ever happened to the Niles Canyon project?

As for the Sugar Pine, why not do one of the nearby prototypes? There was Madera Sugar Pine, Yosemite Sugar Pine, Hetch Hetchy, West Side, etc., and there's tons of data available. Also, many of the existing trails viewed in Google Earth once had track, inclines or mule lines.
Cheers!

O.K. I see there is interest. I started the route I will buy Britkits NG track set and start laying the track. Here are two screen shots with nothing put down. The piece of track you see is just to show where the track is. I will put in Britkits track down once I buy it.

Hack I have finished most of the Niles Canyon route up to Sunol. I will finish the rest to Pleasanton in the future. I used too many payware routes for that route and a lot of people did not like that. I want to start a new route that most of the people that come to this site can use. That is why I want to keep it down to one and maybe two Payware routes. Stevens Pass has the kind of trees I want to use and they will match nicely to the ones that are there in real life.

Most everyone will have to Have Britkits new Engines and his track for this to work. And no I am not working for him. I just like his Engines and work. I just thought it would be fun to have another Narrow Gauge Route to Run Steam Engines on. I think I will make this a combination Narrow gauge route along with standard track in it also. Possibly making this a combination of different scenic railroads from California.

Here is a little update of what this route is going to be. It is going to be located in the Yosemite Sugar Pine area in California. It is going to be a Scenic and Logging Railroad. I am going to use the West Side Lumber Company as a template for the route. If anyone has access to a map of the old West Side Lumber Company or have an idea of where I should look that would help me. Having some idea of the grades would be great. I am going to start at the Sugar Pine area at first so I can get started.

I found a map of the Yosemite Valley Railroad online and I took a screen shot but it is just a screen shot. I would like the real map if someone knows how to get it that would be great. I am going to need three Payware routes to make this since I do not make my own assets. I will try to keep it at that amount no more than four if I have to. Stevens Pass and DRGW from G-Traxs are a must. RSC routes Donner Pass and maybe another I am not sure right now. Most everyone should have all of these routes. All the rest will be freeware from Railworks America And Golden Age Of Railroading.
