Hi folks.

Krellnut's Wagon Freight Sound Pack v.3.0 has been released. This pack supersedes version 2 and adds Krellnut's excellent sounds to all RSC North American content to date with the exception of the Independence SD40-2 and the 44 Tonner DLC packs.

The install is very straight forward and a three-click affair.

You can find it in the file library under "Sounds."

Wow. Incredible!!! Thank you!!! If it weren't for Krellnut's sounds I'm not sure I would still be train simming. I guess RSC doesn't get that the sound of tons of steel groaning and rolling by is a big part of the train experience. Well done and thanks again!

Yeah thank goodness for this update!!!

I kinda wish there was an easier way to add sounds to the sim. It seems it was never designed for plug and play. Everybody had to kinda figure it out on their own through trial and error. Certainly not a priority, but I hope in some future release they make it as easy and accessible in the same way they made train building a snap with the new consist builder.

Actually there is an official package manager in the game utilities,and the sound pack could have been released as a package.
But it is much more efficient, and not much more difficult, to just copy the files or double-click on an installer.

Is it possible for someone with limited talent and a basic knowledge of RS file structure (i.e. me) to add these sounds to routes that have been released since this original package was released, or are there any plans to release an update? I'm thinking specifically Stevens Pass and the upcoming Rogers/Kicking Horse Pass route.

These sounds are excellent, it's hard sometimes to run trains on Stevens Pass without them!

I plan on doing it within a week or so. The ice storms out here have caused my ISP to drop my Internet connection sporadically over the last few days and I have been wanting to buy the F45 and UP SD60.

So, we have to add the following to the list after the release of the Surfliner Route:

Steven's Pass Rolling Stock
BN F45
UP SD60
Mountain Passes Rolling Stock

Am I missing any?

I also missed the United-Way SD-40 in the previous release. It is in there now though. I thought I added something else since I uploaded the pack as well. let me do some digging.
