Ann Arbor Install - My Experience

After all the hub bub I had to give it a go. There are 4 files.

1. Ann Arbor Update
2. Ann Arbor Assets
3. Ann Arbor Assets part 2
4. Ann Arbor Assets part 3

The Ann Arbor update contains the route rwp, install with the Utilities program.
Ann Arbor Assets is several folders of assets, copy them all to your Railworks Assets folder.
Ann Arbor Assets part 2 contains another file that needs extracted. It is SMMDIGITAL.7z. Extracting gets you SMMDIGITAL asset folder. Copy this to your Railworks/Assets folder.
Ann Arbor Assets part 3 also contains another file. It is Toripony.7z. Extract it to get the toripony asset folder and copy it to your Railworks/Asset folder.

I loaded up RW and created my own scenario and gave it a run. Route fired right up and down the tracks I went. Tracks, signals, scenery all was just fine. After 20 minutes I got out of it.

Next I ran RW Tools route checker on it and this is what it said was missing.

That's it, 5 files. The sr_cajon.bin file was listed about 400 times. But did not seem to effect anything.

One thing to note I have every payware route from steam. I also have all of Great Northerner's routes, my NERW, TDwolf's routes, Tori's C&O and a few other freeware routes with many gigs of assets.

So the route loads just fine. There are some things wrong with the route. There are no frogs on any switches or the "X" crossing. The speed limit for most of my journey was 5 mph but going 45 mph did not raise the speeding alarm?? Once it went to 10 MPH limit and once to 20 mph limit and I got gigged for speeding then, but it went back to 5 mph.

Many thanks for a simple and sensible report. I've downloaded all components of this route, but haven't installed it because of all the confusing and contradictory hubbub in other threads. For now, I intend to keep waiting, in part because my route collection isn't nearly as extensive as yours, in part because I'm hoping that the route's creator or some other helpful soul will finally clarify the question of exactly what payware assets have been packaged and are thus required for optimal running.

As Kermit might say, "Without frogs, what kind of swamp is this?"

I have significantly less than Bob and am missing four things. I think the biggest issue is that the route does require NEC, which is throwing a lot of people for a loop. Past that - it's basically clean-up with the track rules/speed etc that Bob's identified.

I will run RW Tools on the route again and this time as if I was going to package it up, that will show what payware is required.

OK I ran RW Tools on it again last night, it requires this payware.

Brighton Mainline
Donner Pass
Horseshoe Curve
NEC
Sherman Hill

And an asset package called Island Line which I believe is from the Isle of Wight.

Bob,
You say it requires that payware is a little misleading. To get it with absolutely everything you need all that. For instance I don't have Brighton and it runs fine here.

OK then to get all the scenery the Ann Arbor route uses you need those routes I listed above. How's that?

Not that I have seen, but the only thing I am missing is some concrete wall that I asked about and no one responded so it may be something you might no notice. Bob did you see any milk bottles?

I did not go over the whole route, I started the scenario at the ORIGIN since there are no GPS markers set up and I went to the right if you are looking at the 2D map. I drove down the yard at the right end and did not see any milk bottles. But there is so much vegetation I may have missed it. The vegetation along the tracks is great stuff. He broke it up pretty good so it does not repeat too much.

Additional notes on route.
I am missing only two items, 90000ft/semitrailer and maybe Port Ogdon/pon_fence_wire1 ( have one but may be a descrepance in text). Speed limis are all in place (70/ ?? to start and mostly 50/30 in most other areas. Some speed reductions are not shown on the ribbon. Use of some repaints I do not have in some scenarios. At least one scenario I can not edit. Most signals are incorrect ( I have re-signaled route). Tried to redo speed limits but multiple track rules make it tedious. The SR_Cajon I believe comes from the 3D Trains scalerail version of Cajon Pass (a payware route). The SR grey Otto can be found in the lates Thomas route.
I suspect the 5 mph limit is caused by the missing track rule.

The semi trailer should be in RCAP v1 now, though I think its under a different product/provider.

Seeing a 9000ft. semi-trailer might be interesting, but for the present I'm putting the downloads for this route into what Italians call the "dimenticatoio", which I believe is self-explanatory. If a straightforward and dependable version ever appears, I may try it again but life is too short to "obesify" up my assets folder with a lot of stuff I don't need and that would prove very difficult to track down and remove if I later found the route not to my liking.
