Just uploaded this so you should be seeing it tomorrow.

Anyway, its a replica of an early run of the FGE built 50' plate B insulated boxcars. These cars were originally built around '66 and are not quite as common as the later plate C cars, with the traditional Youngstown doors. Those will be coming a little later.





Anyway, put these to good use hauling your temp sensitive items!

Thanks Jim. I've seen tons of these cars all over the southeast. They used to deliver egg yolks in these cars to the mayo plant in my home town.

Thats really cool, never thought about eggs being hauled in them. I know what you mean though. I grew up seeing a lot of them as well except I think quite a few of them were loads of beer. I had completely forgot about them till i saw a pic last week and just had to have one. I'm going to work on the plate C cars that were better known in the Solid Gold scheme.

Yuck, all that egg yolk all over the floor, what a mess cleaning that lot up......and then they used it in Mayonnaise, hmm, remind me not to buy any jars of that then.

No doubt. I bet that was a really nice clean out job.

Like I said, I will definitely be doing more of these. Solid Gold, Youngstown doors, offset doors, and tons of different eastern operators and paint variations. Some of the companies I am thinking about are NW, Southern, C&O, B&O, L&N, CRR, etc.

Thanks kindly for this one, Jim. It's nice to see a model from the "second transition era," when a Plate C railroad system began to replace steam-era designs with the longer, and eventually taller modern designs. This is definitely a welcome addition to the fleet.
