EMD SD7 (BN) -- the first with dynamic brakes.

Unread postby GreatNortherner » Thu Jun 28, 2012 4:36 pm

Hi,

The next release in the line of my SD7s is now available: a two-pack of BN SD7s. One is an ex-GN unit, the other an ex-CBQ engine, already with rebuilt headlights as seen on some pictures.

You can download them here:
http://golden-age-rails.com/freightcarp ... sd7bn.html

Repainters please note: you'll find the mapping for the dynamic brake blister on the main-1 texture. It should be fairly obvious, but there are two "hidden" color chips for the top and the end sides of the dynamics -- these are located right below the grille texture of the dynamics.

Also -- I noticed too late that I made the roof top warning beacons part of the whole roof assembly. So if anybody wants a dynamic brake model without it, I'll have one ready soon. Again, if anybody would like some customized parts (autonumbers???) please just ask and I'll see what I can do.

Cheers!
Michael

I afraid that I will need one without the beacon.

Engine looks great and runs great.

The only concern I have about it is on this one and the Milwaukee Road engine there is a strange shader on the front driver and front passenger window that looks like either a smear mark or dust when the window should be appearing as a fully clear window.

Other then that the model looks great and is more then I could do. Can't wait to see you build a steamer for Railworks, since I've always been a big steam fan, to me can't get enough of it.

I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet but I not seeing any rain effects with these.

Michael, Are the templates the same for both models? And if so I'm having a heck of a time trying to find the right spot for the dynamic brakes.

Michael sent me an email about that earlier. Here's what he said:

BTW - I just uploaded the BN units to my website, so the short hood fwd with dyna brake is now available. The mapping for the dynamic brake is all on the main-1 texture, you'll find it easily. Right below the dynamic's grille texture are two "hidden" areas where the top and the end sides of the dynamic brake blister pick their colors from.

Hi,

Thanks for the heads-up! Reading your post made me realize that I hadn't tested the short hood cab in the rain. **!!bang!!** I'll check what's wrong.

Cheers,
Michael

Don't need the beacon however...

WIP, line fussing and so on. Again, Pete Willard and his fonts http://www.railsimstuff.com made this easier!
