I wonder if you would consider doing some quick and dirty repaints of the "Dump truck" and "Cement truck" that we have floating around?? It seems a cinch to repaint that cab in a few colors like the pickups... and you could tone down that bright white dumper. It's these little things we need to make our routes look more U.S.

Nice job! These'll do well for everyones routes, but mine need a few good trucks for sure. and I noticed you have a JDRF donation thing on your page. This type 1 diabetic thanks you for supporting that cause.

The heavy trucks are some of my older projects that i did when i first started modeling for RS/RW. Honestly i haven't thought much about updating them, but i may consider redoing them when i get a few minutes. My 2 year old son has Type 1 diabeties, so the JDRF donate button is one thing i can do to help find a cure, thank you for noticing it.

So THAT's where those came from... thank you for those, too! I've used them often, but like most of my route, I need things to look dirty and well-used. The sparkling paint job makes them stand out a bit for my taste, so I usually place them in shaded or partially obscured spaces. If you ever feel up to the challenge, I would love to see a big yellow CAT head-end loader someday. In any case, I am so glad someone else sees the need for more U.S. road vehicles/equipment in the game.

On another thought, if I ever get to Hinton on the C&O Alleghany, there will be scales to use those test cars on. Does anyone reading know anything about scale tracks? What they look like or how they fit into the action? How might I create something in RW that looks similar without have to model a whole new asset? Just looking for ideas.

Does the proceeds from the rail test car also help the JDRF funding I just bought one and was just curious

Railroad scales are used for determining the cost of the load. For example coal, you run the loaded car over the scale & after it is emptied you run it over the scale again to get the actual weight of the car & subtract the difference. That way the customer is only charged for the weight of the load. The scale test cars are a set weight & do not change, so they are used to determing the accuracy of scales

Scales are extremely easy to model all you need is a small building to make the scale house and a concrete slab to simulate the scale itself. http://spec.lib.vt.edu/imagebase/norfol ... nw1134.jpg Normally you see two sets of rails one set goes over the scale & the other bypasses the scale to cut down on wear & tear and to make the most use out of that track section.

The scale test cars help put beans on the table, but i gave everybody the donation option for the diabeties resarach so they can donate how much they feel they can afford, without having a set price, all of the JDRF donations go to the JDRF.
