CVP Route Cars redone

Unread postby ironcat60 » Mon Nov 23, 2020 4:35 pm

There was a need to fix missing cars and car accessories due to faulty bin files. I also have been wanting to improve and diversify the looks of the rolling stock.

These rail cars are intended to fill out the inventory for the Columbia Valley Pacific Route or the RWA Lakeside route.

This a reskin of the cars in the RW&A Freight Pack in the RailWorksAmerica RW&A Route (Donationware) on the RailWorksAmerica site that you must install to get the GeoPcDx file. So yes this is a shameless add for the EXCELLENT RW&A Route that costs you a small amount. Plus you really need to have the RW&A installed in order to get the full scenery effect for the AMAZING CVP Route. So please support this OUTSTANDING Site!

Two new road names, Canadian National and Northern Pacific as the these two roads would interchange with the CVP through the GN and CP.

There is three packs as it had to be separated into manageable sections for the file share site I use.
CVPcars_A Has cars for the Columbia Valley Pacific, Great Northern, and Canadian Pacific.
CVPcars_B Has cars for the Northern Pacific and Canadian National
CVPcars_C Has the box cars for each road.

For each of the five roads represented there is:
•Gondola 50t, with three loads: coal, gravel, steel coil rolls
•Flatcar 50ft, with eight different loads: Cable Reels, Crates, I-Beams, Logs, Pipes, Rails, Timber, Timber2
•Hopper 70t, with a coal load

Box Cars and more Box Cars! Two each for the CN, CP, GN, and NP. These cars add to the variety of cars available in the RWA inventory. There is already a great selection of CVP boxcars on the RWA so I didn't need to add those.

>>Version 2 Changes-Fixes Summary ---------------------

** Road Numbers HAVE CHANGED for ALL cars ** I appologize for any saved secenarios that will have broken consists. This was done as the original set used the same Road Numbers as the base models. There was not a sufficent amount of numbers available to support a variety of roads. The cars now reflect semi-protypical road numbering. Also if a group of cars of the same type are strung together, it looks better to not have all the cars numbered along the
same series of road numbers.

Thanks for doing this. They look like a great addition. I am probably missing the obvious, but where do we get them from?

Howdy Wayne, oh great bringer of a awesome route!

All the of the cars except for boxcars are repaints of the rolling stock found in the RWA Lakeside Route. Take for example the gondolas. I wanted them to be done in the typical colors of the road they represent. I discovered that the default texture while doing a excellent job of displaying a road weary car also hid some outstanding model details like side braces that run along the side of the car. By applying a consistent color to the model, and only adding dark highlights to some car aspects, it made it look like a whole different car.

The boxcars are made from the outstanding repaint kit that Michael Stephan thoughtfully released with his amazing PS-1 40ft Boxcar. I know there is Boxcars for some of the roads I painted already in the RWA Lakeside route but I since I was adding boxcars for the Canadian National why not get carried away and add boxcars for all the roads I did for the pack. I wanted to add variety to the consists so I chose schemes that were present or just coming on board at the time period depicted.

Plus since the boxcars are listed outside the RWA directory I consolidated them in GreatNortherner's directory under the title CVPpack so they are easier to find.

I think what Wayne is asking is: where can we get your repaints from?
Did you send them to Bob or me for publishing in the RWA library?

They were submitted to our Imperious Leader Bob. Whom has recently had a birthday.

"All creatures shall make merry" - "Under pain of death". Flash Gordon (1980 movie)

Also I am working on fixing color definition for the black generic locomotives for CVP and fixed the messed up bin that prevented the black GE-44 tonner from showing up.
