Charlottsville Mixed Freight Run scenario for Eagle Ridge

Unread postby ATSF3814 » Sat May 07, 2011 4:31 am

Just sent my very first scenario to Hawk and it should soon be available in the file library. In it, you'll be starting at Charlottsville and heading to two industries to collect several strings of cars for drop off at the Grace Plains Rail Yard.

There are a few payware packs required. See the readme for full details.

Please feel free to give me some feedback. Though it was a bit frustrating, I did enjoy making this scenario and I plan to do more in the future.

Oh, and a big thank you to harryadkins for testing this scenario for me! *!!thnx!!*

Will this run on Pike's Eagle Ridge route?

This scenario is for the version of Eagle Ridge that we have here in the file library. I should've mentioned that in the readme. Sorry.

No problem. I have Pike's version loaded because it had the most scenarios. !*cheers*!

Thanks! A great scenario for a great route.
Very interesting to gather this huge consist and trying to not make the AI trains wait too long.
I enjoyed it a lot.

It took me more than 3 hours finding and getting all the assets because I'm new at this so I had very few assets already. I also didn't know that the names of assets given in readme files, on this forum, on download sites and in RW Tools are all different. This makes searching a daunting task. Also I didn't know, for example, that Michael Stephan = GreatNortherner = Golden Age of Railroading. When finally RW Tools reported no missing assets I almost cried.

Then I had an error loading the scenario: "can't find destination" with the CN 8894 Mixed Freight AI train. I spent a couple of hours learning the scenario editor, and I found that this train had an intermediate goal for marker "AI Train 2 Destination" at 0 mph. This was marked with a red "!!!" in the editor. According to the editor manual a speed of 1 mph or more should be used. I corrected the speed and the problem was solved.

I wasn't able to get engine sound and smoke on the two trailing units, even after adding the loco script in RW Tools. Maybe it is because the 3 engines are not a consist at the start? (you have to couple your engine to the two others).

I noticed that the speed limit is 50 mph everywhere including yards, I guess this problem is with the route itself and not the scenario.
Over the hill and gathering speed
