I've attached a txt file report from RWTools showing the files being used by the repaints so you can check to see if something is missing. If everything is there, I have no idea why the textures, mainly the bumps are not being rendered or loaded.

Hope this is helpful.

Could a British Rail mark 3 be used in place for
A via rail car? I believe the current cars are mark 4

The turquoise Renaissance cars are ex-Nightstar - a failed attempt to run sleeping car trains through the channel tunnel - which are roughly based on the Mk4. Unfortunately the Mk3 isn't really anything like a Mk4, but I think there's Mk4s "on the way".

I just noticed on the screen shots in BlueLight's scenario Fraser & Carriboo - VIA Rail Canada that the same texture problem is shown.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with the repaint and this problem of the bump map not showing? I did edit the original bump texture as part of the repaint to accommodate the scheme by editing the ribs with cut and past but was saved in its orgianl format. Does anyone have any suggestions, what can be going on? Is there possible some game settings that is causing this? !**conf**! I'm really stumped because its working just fine on my machine. !*don-know!*

Try lowering your detail setting a click - it might be looking for a compressed bumpmap & not finding one.

Thanks Kali.

Hopefully xianggang and anyone else who is experiencing the same problem can try that and let us know if that helps.

Well, if you're running level 10 yourself, try dropping it to 9 & seeing if you still have textures. If anyone else is at 9 or less, try loading at 10 and seeing if that fixes it.

OK.....I've been able to recreate the issue with the textures. It seems to be in the game settings used. When I changed the Graphic Details to the Highest preset, the model does not render properly, showing no ribs from the bump map. When I back it down to the High Preset, the asset renders with the rib details created by the bump map. Now the original G-Trax works fine in Highest so I have to look into the issue further as I edited the bump map files.

In the meantime, I would suggest anyone having texture problems to try run it on High detail preset to see if that works for you.

Do I need to do anything special when editing the bump map files xxxxx_nmc.TgPcDx ? All I did is convert them to dds in RWTools and did cut and past edits and save the dds (with the same settings as the export) and then re-import them. I assume that would have been all that is needed but for some reason, it appears that workflow may have caused problems for users with Highest setting. !*don-know!*

If you look around you'll notice a similar file with a _nm suffix: that's the uncompressed version that the game uses at level 10 - you need to provide both.

Thanks Kali,

That's what the problem was. For some reason I did not include the _nm files that original had. Since the repaint still worked with out the _nm on my computer with my settings, I didn't realize the problem and left them out in error. I copied and edited the default files with the new bump on my repaint and reexported them. I had problems with RWTool exporting the edited files with serz crashing, resulting in the trashing of the original file. I found out there may be a problem with RW Tools exporting files with 11 mips or more and that its recommended to use RSBintool. I installed and used RSBinTool and it exported the revised files just fine.

I tried the VIA cars using the highest detail settings with the new _nm files and on my machine it works perfectly.

I've sent an update package with the missing texture files to Hawk to add to the library. As soon as I get a link, I'll post it here so users can dl the missing textures.

Thanks again for your help Kali in diagnosing the problem. !*cheers*!

I hope this will fix the problem some people have experienced.
