I don't think any are in Railworks right now, I would love a C30-7 though!

Well, I had an hour or so this morning so I did a little weathering. Its not overly detailed or overdone, but I think its decent enough. Several layers of road dirt/grime, a little rust, and some sooty black on top. What do you guys think? Keep in mind this is my first attempt at weathering in any simulator (however, lots of experience with weathering HO scale models), so I know some areas aren't great.

Yay, grimey gusses!!! Yes, they look good. Nice work with the grime, soot, and rust! You're dead-on right about that very slight touch of orange in the yellow. The blue and yellow scheme was originally adopted by the C&O because those are WV state colors. Actually, the state colors are blue and gold, but since you can't "paint" gold, the yellow has always had a slight tint of orange to give it that sort of golden glow in the right light. Well, ok, ya'll are right... there were some paint schemes (particularly in the Chessie era) that lost some of that orange tint and looks almost pure yellow, but as everyone can see, CSX went back to the orangie tint.

I'm glad you like our shade of blue: http://www.shca.com/west-virginia-capitol-dome/
The gold leafing on the dome is not the original gold. When the building was completed, it was guilded; however, the leafing peeled off. The dome was repainted with West Virginia Blue amd Gold colors. In the 1980s, the dome was guilded once again.

Units look good! Ive seen the talk about the orange weathering to yellow, well, the last SD40 in this color scheme that I photographed the blue was almost faded to a Jade-Green color. CSX needs to wax their units more often as the sun does murder on the paint!

Reflective tape would be nice, but its probably more trouble than its worth. I think it would be an alpha channel on the main texture, a bump map, blank specular, env map, and TrainBumpSpecEnvMask.fx shader. All this though only if ypu had the source model to play with - not sure the effect could be applied via repaint through the Geo file.

Not sure I'm happy with it yet, thats just the first test. I'm playing with some new techniques.

Where can I download these? The library only has Conrail AFAIK.

Would like to have the CSX units in all their subtle variations.

Sorry about the confusion, but I am not asking about accurate representation of prototype colours.

I would like to know where to download these CSX repaints from, as they don't seem to be in RWA's download section. In the thread a Megaupload link was mentioned, but that obviously doesn't work anymore.

Megaupload has been shut down and so these will have to be hosted somewhere else by the author, I believe.

Just sent the PM off. Hopefully the files can be hosted here at RWA.

A thought occurred to me: is it possible the have "random" weathering like in auto-numbering but with random patches of texture applied here and there to have subtle variations between the same units in a lash-up? One can never have enough of standard units like SD40's and ES44's.
